| Hello Sofarsogood. Congratulations on your loss!!! My story is similar to yours. I really need to get my rear in gear. I am supposed to be thinner by my next Dr. appointment in September. I tried to start induction two weeks ago and did OK for a week, then fell off the wagon after my husband (lost 80lb. on Atkins) left town. He started a new job in California and I'm staying in TX until the house is sold. I want to be thinner next time I see him but I'm having difficulty staying on induction. Could you tell me how you stayed on track with induction this time around and what "tricks" worked for you? Thanks. |

| Unfortunately, our families and friends don't always understand the details of Atkins. If they understood that there is nothing wrong with eating baked chicken, broccoli, salads, hamburger, cucumbers, fish and the other healthy foods we get to eat, they'd realize how silly they are in discouraging you. Sometimes it is hard for families and friends to see us take control of our lives. Just remind yourself of that when you hear criticism and hang in there. You know that Atkins works! You are living proof!! Best wishes.

| Hi sofarsogood and welcome to ADBB and back to Atkins! Good for you on your success so far! And getting the exercise in also. And if the family jumps in again, have them read the maintenance chapter and show them a menu from the various menus in the book, that should resolve that problem!

Hi SO FAR SO GOOD and will become I MADE GOAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Welcome back. I also am a returny and am on my 4th day of induction. Fantastic success so far. Just shows you how much BAD stuff your body was dealing with. I also am a bicycler and I think it is one of the best ways to exercise but also to add as a way of life. Regarding the family, are they cycling also????? I do several orgranized rides a year. Usually I'm the biggest one pedaling out there but I really enjoy the sites and interactions of families that cycle together. Cheers and may everyday from now on be filled with GRINS & GIGGLES.

| Welcome back sofarsogood! Wishing you the best in your weight loss journey! Family can be a pain in the behind...mine didn't support me in the beginning and still don't even after they've seen my resounding success. Gotten to the point where I don't go home to visit anymore because I'm sick and tired of hearing their calumnies and condescension. Trust me, ignore what they say about the diet and just keep on plan and you will be happier and healthier for it! ~Far la bella figura!

| Thanks everyone I will try to educate my family again. My mom is such a worrier (unfortunately one of the traits my daughter and myself inherited). I have given her DANDR to read maybe it will help change her mind, then she can change everyone else's opinion too. Duchess- I think what is helping me really stick to plan this time is the bike riding. Sometimes I go twice a day to get my mind off the carbs (which is all I usually eat). Also, I hate water but force it down my throat. I also drink diet pepsi, I know I am not supposed to but it doesn't seem to stall me and I love it. Mack - I incorporate my two daughters into my bicycling by putting them in a bike trailer. They are 8 and 4. First I tried going biking with them but they go so slow I wouldn't even break a sweat - not their fault of course. Even though my eight year old is a little cramped in the trailer they seem to like it and together they weigh 92 pounds so I get a better work out, especially going up hills. I just started riding a bike again a couple of weeks ago and after a half an hour I burn everywhere! |

| I am on my 26th day of induction. I lost the first 13 pounds fast. This past week I have not lost any weight, I even seem to be fluctuating up and down. I use the ketone strips and I am in ketosis, but my stomach is still not going down and I don't feel like I am losing any more weight this week. I have no desire to quit but it is frustrating. |

| Nana - I don't know if this will help or not but I weigh myself every morning and for two days I didn't lose any weight at all, then today I was down 2.2 pounds. I didn't do anything different yesterday. I know it's frusterating to not lose for a bit, but just keep with the program and you'll probably wake up one morning and have the scale show a loss. Also, I really think the bike riding I'm doing is making a huge difference in my weight loss. Are you able to excercise at all? |
