| Hi, Rux! Welcome. If this is the first time you've ever tried Atkin's you are going to be sooooo amazed by the weight loss. We're about the same size. When I did it the first time I went from being "puffy" to "skinny" in about 6 weeks (I was NEVER skinny). Do it by the book for 2 weeks and you'll know what I mean. Make sure you don't mix diets. If you try to do low-fat & Atkin's at the same time you probably won't be able to keep eating that way forever and you'll just gain all the weight back, plus. I stayed on it for 2 years last time, then I slowly let more & more carbs back in. So, now I'm starting all over again. Good luck! You're young and you're going to have amazing results. Just noooo cheating.

| Hi Ruxandra! So happy to see you join us. I agree, the people here in the ADBB have some pretty amazing stories and photos to share. It is very inspiring. Have you read the book, Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution, edition 2002? I recommend you read it and refer back to it often so that you'll understand how the program works. This will help you in your success. Another thing I recommend is that you make a plan for success. Write out your meals, exercises, measurements, weight and anything else that you feel will help you stay focused. I have affirmations, motivational phrases and my goals written in mine as well. Don't focus on the foods that you are eliminating, instead make friends with the Atkins friendly recipes. Find substitutions for the foods that you really enjoy. For instance, if you like pizza...make the Atkins friendly crustless pizza. It is one of my favorites and totally satisfies your taste for pizza. Be creative and make this your new life-style. I've been doing Atkins for 2+ years and I haven't once felt deprived or that I am on a diet. Make friends with the other members (there is a teen forum also) and make this a fun adventure. Best wishes. If you need help, just post. Everyone wants to see you succeed and will be glad to help.
