Default Here we go again!!!

I'm sure I am not the only person out there with this kind of story. I tried Atkins back in 2003, absolutely loved it and it worked great. I lost 60lbs. Well its three years later and not only have I gained it all back, I've added another 30lbs. It seemed gradual at the time, but it seemed back then I had a higher tolerance for carbs, so every once in awhile I would add in a piece of bread, or some spaghetti and the scale wouldn't move. Well we can all guess what happened next, I threw the lifestyle out the window. I've tried it a few times since then, but I haven't been able to make it through the first two induction without getting frustrated and scrapping it. But this last week I moved and usually I can haul furniture with the best of them, but two boxes later, I was out of breathe. I realized how bad I had gotten.

Here is my situation. My boyfriend of almost a year is supportive which is great, but he is also 125lbs soaking wet. My 18 year old cousin who is a basketball player also lives with us. Since they both have the metabolisms of well teenage boys, they aren't particular about what they eat. Which in turn means my house is full of crap I shouldn't be eating, but end up eating because its there. I work at a desk job (I'm a loans officer) and usually end up eating at my desk if I eat at all.

I guess I'm here to get some support and more importantly someone to kick my butt when I need it too. I have owned Dr. Atkins book for many years and have read it cover to cover multiple times. Now I just need to find the motivation to change my life for the better.

PS. The reason I am not starting Induction until Sunday is I want to make sure I am fully prepared with the proper food in the house and so I can get the wrong food out of the house!

Hi Lindsay. You came to the right place for encouragment and motivation. Make a plan for yourself to succeed. Write out what you will eat, what you will do for exercise and your measurements. What happens to make you reach for the high carb foods? Write out when you are most tempted and give yourself alternatives...make ahead acceptable snacks that you can reach for, go for a walk, write in your journal or call/talk to a friend and/or come to the ADBB where you can get motivated. Keep a picture of yourself or someone that has the weight you want to achieve. Mental pictures of yourself at goal do a lot to keep you going towards that goal. Write out affirmations and tape to the mirror and in your purse and in the kitchen. As you see the inches and pounds start to melt...that will boost your ego and you'll be more motivated.

Come to the ADBB often. There is a ton of motivational stories, photos, challenges and friends that will help you with any of your weaknesses. I have a husband who is thin and he is constantly eating...but he is not me. You will do it. We can help you, don't give up!!
