Hi, Steve! The one mentality that you have to get rid of is that you can eat all you want just so it is legal...that is fine while you overcome the dependence on carbs, but as soon as you get to feeling better...you should not feel the need to eat so much. When I started induction, I did no carbs for the first few days. I felt pretty lousy for about three or four days, but i knew it was getting the carbs out of my system that was doing it to me. I hung in there and the big loss the first week helped my psyche. After I started feeling better, I started adding back some salad and veggies. But i don't think I got to 20 carbs even the second week. The third week I made sure i was eating twenty carbs. Today is four weeks that i started and I feel great. I won't weigh till tomorrow, but I am have measured and I have lost additional 1/2 and full inches. So, I am happy. I am a woman and accept that i will lose slower than you guys do, but i am also short and don't have but 35 pounds to lose in total (I have lost 9 as of last Sunday). I plan to take it as slow as it takes and to make this a life change this time instead of just a plan to lose weight and go back to eating how i know is NOT healthy for me.

Before getting back on the Atkins wagon this time...I have experimented with my eating and dieting and i know that the unhealthy carbs are my poison. So, with the help of the BB, I hope to make the change permanent! You'll get some good advice here and don't fret.....get thru a clean induction and i bet you'll feel better in a few days. My suggestion would be to drink drink drink...but make it H20. Get moving if you aren't already and cut the carbs for the first days and slowly add them back when you have overcome what I call your "carb poisoning".

Hi Everyone.

Thanks so much for all your words of encouragement.

I will put them to good use.

Yes, I suppose I’ll have to get exercising a little more- and drink lots of water. I’m not really much less active than the first time I went on the diet but I am a little older. Actually, after thinking about it, I was originally on the diet 7 years ago. Not ten as I mentioned. I suppose the treadmill will have to be a treadmill again instead of “that thing I hang my clothes on.”

I looked around the house like crazy today to find the book. No luck. I did find Dr. Atkins’ “Age-Defying Diet.” I always meant to read it but never got around to it. I’ll make a trip to the bookstore tomorrow. And then it’s time to get down to business!

Sillygirl, Yes I’m ready to do it right this time !

Jimmie 48, Looks like I’m good to go on the ADBB.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend !!

Hey Steve - when you get "the book" you will see the differences between then and now. This is NOW, you can do this for sure!
