Default New And Saying HI

HI,

I am 46 yo female. About 5' 8" tall. I have been exercising for over a year at the Y and do cardio and weights.

I have been dieting for over 2 years. I started at 194.4 and lost most of my weight doing Weight Watchers, but never could reach my goal of 140 which I have been trying to get to that elusive number for over a year.

I finally upped my goal to 150 on WW so I could go to the group meetings without having to pay. I have heard most of the meetings and they really are not motivating to me any more but I like the groups support and that is a help. I do have complaints about WW that they allow all the junk food and even doing the Core plan they give you all these tricks to add junk into the diet so you are constantly hungry all the time, but I keep my mouth shut in the meetings so not to rock the boat.

Anyway. Last summer I did south beach induction and got my home scales to 140.8 or something and once I started adding in grains and fruits the scales went up and then I went on vacation and ate like a pig. I never let myself gain too much and I was always under 150 but I sure felt fat and it is all in my stomach becaseu I have a apple figure.

A month or so ago I decided to try atkins but was just counting carbs and did not read the book but then I started reading this board and everyone suggested the book so I got it. I stopped using the sweetener packets (I was using from 24-40 a day) and stopped eating nuts and and stopped the whipped cream and after a week or so I did start to loose a little.

Today my scales are 142.6 and that is higher than yesterday but I am trying to be positive and figure it may be the ham I had for breakfast yesterday. it said zero carb grams, but since finding out that the sweetener packets are actually 1 carb each I don't trust the labels completely.

I think I may be one that can really never have many carbs from being overweight for so many years.

Thanks for allowing me to join the forum.

Cindy

Hi Cindy. Welcome to the ADBB. I've tried all the 'diets' out there and until I found this program and committed to a new way of living and thinking about myself and foods, I was never able to lose weight successfully. You've come to the right place. Everyone here is very supportive and encouraging. There are lots of recipes, challenges, motivational posts and tips for changing our old ways and incorporating new ones to get the weight off and keep it off. Best wishes. I look forward to sharing your journey with you.

Thanks For the Welcome.

I am trying hard not to eat any non legal foods. About the only thing that I have that might be frowned upon is liquid stevia and I am pretty sure I have more than 3 servings a day, but I really need it for tea and coffee and I even put in water because I can not stand plain water.

It does not have the calorie containing fillers in it that the packets do and I still have been able to loose with it so I won't try to cut down just yet.

I had real trouble loosing at first, then after reading the chapter on candidia I have tried those suggestions and it seems that is when I started loosing. I cut way down on cheese and stopped eating mushrooms. Not sure if those were a problem but I started loosing after I did that.

Also I have a cold and have not felt the greatest but I am just toughing it out and have not taken anything becasue I don't want to upset my body chemistry. This cold has lasted almost a week so surley it is almost over.

Bye cindy

Cindy,

Welcome to the board. I've been on Atkins for almost 2 months now. Be sure you stick to induction, you want your body to rid itself of any carb addictions.

The has been so helpful for me. I still have a LONG way to go before I reach my ultimate goal but with the help of this board, I can do it one day at a time.

Good Luck and God Bless.
