8am=3 eggs with 1 slice of mont, pepper jack cheese
gnc multivitamin, and omega 3 and 6 fish oil capsule

10am=2 slices of salami,3 slices of turkey and 1 slice of pepper jack

12pm=1 cup of frozen mixed veggies=7 grams of carbs.
polyphenol and egcg greentea extract capsules

3pm=3 slices of turkey and 2 slices of salami with one slice of pepper jack, also a protein shake=5 grams of carbs, and 2 3000 megaburst amino acid gnc tablets

6pm=1 sirloin breakaway steak with a slice of pepper jack

if i want a snack i have a little turkey pepperoni

the reason i eat like this is because i do 10 min.of highly intesive cardio and then lift weights for an hour 4 to 5 days a week.
so i feel better eating this way this as it keeps my metabolism going.

i drink around 160.oz of water a day.

i did have a bowl of oatmeal today and then read it was a no-no so i hope i didnt mess up to bad.

please let me know what i could be doing differentm thnx.

i really want to do this right ,i was in good shape in the army but since then i feel into a slump.my wife will return from iraq on may 1st and i dont really have a goal weight set yet,but i want to look good for her,so im putting my life in the hands of the well educated atkins guru's

Let me start by making it clear that your life is in the hands of you and your doctor(s) - we do not give out medical advice here.

2nd- make sure if you are intending to do Atkins from step one on up, that you have the 2002 Completely Updated version of Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution

For the 1st 2 weeks (induction) you should consume 65% of your caloric intake per day in fats, 30% in protein, 5% in carbs. 20 net g carbs being the limit (fiber is subtracted from total carbs)

It is a good idea to vary the types of veggies to maximize the nutrient and fiber benefits, plus vary the sources of fats as well.

Due to your extra exercise, your protein needs may be a little greater, but if you consume more protein than needed, remember that your body can convert them to carbs!

Take advantage of the variety of veggies available - and mix&match! (measure salad veggies raw ). You can always add a little of this or that veggie cooked/uncooked to any meal or snack.

Welcome to

I have to say I am still cracking up over the "recomended cheese dose"I love how you put that!!!

you actually eat better than most of the 27 year olds I am in close contact with including my own kids ...so good for you!!!!

then if you want to know what fresh is you should prepare your own foods ..just stroll on the outside of the grocery store and avoid the center isles ..there you will find fresh veggies, meat, dairy and of course your "cheese dose"

read the book move your body ..buy fresh foods... learn to cook and you will do fine not too much to ask is it?

The not wanting to eat is a good thing. It probably means you are in ketosis, a natural appetite suppressant, and the great beauty of this way of eating! I don't know about the lethargic-ness, some people do get "induction flu". See if it doesn't go away in a day or two. I have no clue about your ab weirdness, lifting weights too hard? If you don't feel better in a day or two maybe you should call the doctor. In the meantime, read, read read the book!

so should i only eat when im hungry now or continue to eat small portions 5 to 6 times a day to keep the metabolism going.

also does insulin effect stress levels (just within the past few hours ive noticed even when im telling my son not to do something i usually feel the heat inside if that makes sense but now i feel much calmer)its crazy.and the side pain is subsiding also ,its almost not there anymore, and all this happened since my last post.

im in love with this process already and havent even past day 5 yet. ,im also addicted to the book.

There is a diabetic forum on the board that may answer your question about insulin and stress. Whatever, if you're calmer when reprimanding your son, Woo Hoo, huh?

The theory is to eat when you're hungry, but never go longer than 5 hours or so without food. Personally, I am a grazer eater so I do eat every few hours all day long! Just make sure you're having the 20 carbs per day during induction, and that you're not eating too little calories, which will stall your weight loss because your body will think you're starving it. Eat properly for your exercise needs.

How great, to actually be able to say "I'm not even hungry!". You should post a picture over at the Before and Afters, you too will be a success story!

If you're not hungry don't force yourself...but do have a snack after about six hours to keep your metabolism up... a few olives, or a square of cheese is enough.
Induction flu is very normal and is just your body weaning itself off carbs. It should pass quite soon (mine lasted three days) and then, you'll find you suddenly feel great and have masses of energy.
