| Welcome MPC Shawn!!! You've come to the right place for support and good low carb advice! You're right, sometimes we just need to do things for 'ourselves'... and with weight loss, doing for ourselves is a terrific way to keep motivated. You'll probably go through a few days of induction flu, which is your body weaning itself off carbs, but when that passes (only a few days usually), you'll find you feel full of energy. Doing Atkins is taking a major step towards better health, let alone weight loss. Make yourself at home on the board...roam around and see all the things you can do: journals, exercise challenges, recipes, chit chat... you name it! When you do get to weigh yourself, why not join Jimmie's semi-annual "No Scale" challenge? I mean, weigh yourself once, then join the challenge... and see how you've done at the end of it. You can take your measurements too, which is much more reliable than the scales anyway. Often we lose inches before the pounds go. The link to the challenge is: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...ad.php?t=39701 (Weigh? No Way! Challenge #2 ~ A Board Wide Challenge) Keep us posted on your Atkins journey... we're all backing you!

| Hey Shawn, welcome to the board. Reading your post I'm struck by the fact that it could very well have been written by me only 4 months ago. Time to forget the past and the unhealthy eating habits we had and start making the good choices to make our lives into what we want them to be. You've already made an excellent series of those choices - starting atkins, creating an exercise plan, joining this board, and getting past your pizza/potato pancakes hurdle. I think you will find, as I did, that as you stick with this way of life and learn more about your body and how it reacts to foods it gets easier and easier to make these good choices. Good luck and good eating! **edit** by the way, I'd like to recommend that you take a few pictures of yourself now, at least one body shot and one face shot. You will definitely want those as comparison shots later on.

| Welcome Shawn! Good to hear you're starting this for no one but yourself...that's one of the first big steps towards success! Already having a plan for exercise is the second one...I've seen too many optimists sink line stones because they refuse to exercise...you're on the fast track to a smaller and healthier you! Best of luck on your weight loss journey and if you need anything just give a shout! ~Far la bella figura!
