Default Stumbled across this webpage...looks great!

HI,

I just stumbled across this site and I saw how supportive and successful everyone is here. I've tried atkins in the past but have never stayed on it. I think with support from this community I could. For the first time in a long time i have a loving boyfriend (who just happens to have a degree in culinary nutrition) who will be incredibly supportive too. The biggest issue i've had in the past with atkins is that after a few days everything tastes salty, even low sodium stuff. Could anyone let me know if they've had that problem and how they overcame it?

I'm going to start this diet tonight as soon as i can get to the grocery store. Anyone have suggestions on what to buy? I was sick all weekend with some stomach bug, so i'm already down a pound or so. Thought this might be a perfect time to start because of that. As of this morning i weighed 238.5 pounds and i would like to weigh 135. I am 5'7" and i have a pic i can post, but it says its too big even though its under the 64kb limit; it must have too many pixels. does anyone know how to fix that so i can post?

That's enough questions for now. I look forward to getting to know as many of you as possible!

p.s. i made one of those tickers, but i can't get it on here!! help!!!

If you go and create an account at photobucket.com (its free) you can upload and resize and all kinds of stuff and then use their code to post here. Welcome to the board and good luck.

Hello there Lady Lawyer... welcome to ADBB! So glad you stumbled across us. You've found a great place for support and inspiration.

Glad you feel better after your stomach bug.
Not sure I can answer your pic question, but I'm sure someone more clued up than I will be along to help you there, soon. As for food tasting salty after a few days, well no... can't say that happened to me. Perhaps it's because you're losing your sweet tooth, so focusing more on other flavours... not sure. If things taste too salty I'd certainly reduce the amount I use in cooking, which is always a healthy thing to do. What does your nutritionist boyfriend have to say about your problem?

I'll be interested to see what anyone else comes up with.

Keep us posted on your progress. I wish you all the best with your Atkins journey to better health and a trimmer figure.

Hi Lady Lawyer! Welcome to the board. At the store you should buy lots of meats, cheeses, eggs, salad veggies and other veggies as this is what you will be eating for the first two weeks! Look around the induction forum to get some other ideas, and go to the recipeforum as well. Being able to eat good meals is part of being able to stay eating like this long term. I think if we get bored with it, that's when we tend to veer. If you're not a cook, now's the time to learn! I wish you much success, keep us posted.
