Default finishing 3wks induction!

Hi,
what a wonderful site this is! I have lurked for a long time....and been inspired and amazed by the support and success of so many people. I am not new to Atkins, but have finally decided to do it right this time. For me, it is all about mindset and being ready and committed to quit whining and just get to it.

I have read DANDR many times, but just wasn't quite willling to make the real changes. Throughout the past year, I have decided not to diet, but rather to make this my WOE (yes, I have to think it to death before I can commit!). So here I am, in my third week of induction and very HAPPY! Yes, I have lost some lbs, but also I feel the best I have felt in a long while!! Honestly, I thought I would drop weight like a brick, but didn't really do that. But I am in this for the long haul, and after reading so many of your inspiring stories, I know it will happen in all good time.
I do not feel "deprived" of food or choices and do not lust for the junk I was eating before. Seeing this as a positive choice rather than a "sacrifice" makes ALL the difference! I am going to do a fourth and final week of induction just to get off to a good start, and then move to OWL. Finally have the energy to exercise and am doing weight training dvds. I've had weight issues as long as I can remember---had to buy the "chubby" girl scout uniform as a kid...and can't wait to throw my "big girl" clothing catalogs in the recycle bin!
Thank you great folks for the example you have set to help us beginners see that this WORKS---now and for a lifetime!!!

Welcome ncarolina

I just ended week 3 of induction also and feel very much the same way you do on many regards. It really is all about being 'ready' and feeling ready to change your life. Sounds like you're there! Good luck to you!

Hey ncarolina! Welcome to the board. So happy to hear you've read the book, are doing induction properly and losing some weight! Everyone is different in the loss department, but slow and steady loss is best. This must be working for you because you're not feeling deprived. That's a great sign!

Thank you for the welcome! This board is so supportive and I really look forward to checking it often. It's so motivating to see others going through similar stages and sharing insights.

Erin, when did you start induction? and how long are you doing it before going to OWL? What a GREAT start you have had!!!

thanks, Sallyseachange! I love your profile picture!! You have earned something I am looking forward also to earning: a small and defined WAIST!!! I carry a lot of my lbs. in my abdomen and that "pregnant" look of mine is not really becoming for a 50 yr old girl like me. So sometime this year when I find my real waistline underneath it all (something UNDER 40 inches), I will post a celebration photo!! thanks again!

hi again

I started on the 1st of Jan. Just started week 4. I plan to stay on induction for a while, haven't set a time frame yet, but, since I have a longggg way to go, figure its a safe place for me to be for now

I too am working on 3 weeks of induction, my weight loss is kinda slow but I believe its the lack of excersise that is causing it. Cant do a whole lot with a broke foot, but I been lifting cans of corn and moving my legs a little bit. This is a wonderful site isnt it!!

Thanks for the sweet compliment ncarolina!
I have three years on you, so I'm willing to bet you'll soon get your waist back too at your young age!!
