Way to go, chosing to do something about this before you are 30 or 50! You are at the right time in your life to learn to eat right. Don't get discouraged, it is not unusual to have a period of time where the loss slows or even stops for a bit after induction.

Remember that you didn't get overweight overnight and you won't lose it overnight. It is not a race that is won by who loses the fastest but rather a race that is won by the most persistent! Don't give up, follow the book by the letter and don't cheat! The results over time will blow you away!

Hi Emma,

My number one tip would be stick around this forum - the people here know everything there is to know about Atkins and are always ready with advice and encouragement. It is definately worth joining an exercise challenge to get the weight loss going and to feel great.

Also, read the Atkins (2002 edn) book thoroughly so you know what to eat, when and all the science behind it.

Congrats on your loss so far don't worry if it has stopped - that is quite common.

Make sure to let us know how you are getting on

Hey there Emma! WElcome!

Congrats on your losses so far. A pause after the first drop in weight is very common. Don't fret... it'll pick up again if you eat low carb, exercise and drink masses of water!

Looking forward to reading your posts on your successes!

First off, congrats on the 8lb! Fantastic!

Many people notice after a big loss it takes their bodies some time to "catch up." Stay on plan, drink your water, and take your measurements. You should begin losing as soon as your body realizes that you are providing it with nutrients and hydration.

And kudos for making positive changes at such a young age! I wish I'd done this at 17 instead of 25. ADBB is a great place for support, ideas, advice, recipes, and information. Check out the threads, the stickies in the induction forum, and check out that teen forum like Sillygirl said.

Welcome!

Welcome aboard Emma!

8 lbs is terrific! Congrats! Those lbs will come off, just keep on track and watch your body change. It's not just about the lbs lost, its the inches lost also that you'll notice and already are in the way your clothes fit!

Good luck!

I was 150-165 all through highschool and no shortage of dates let me tell ya! You are still young and your body is changing but it's great that you are pursuing a better way of eating. Don't get obsessive wanting to be tiny. I know I never will be. Welcome to the board and check out my profile. I'm on myspace and AOL...
