Default Does this happen to anyone else?

Hi everyone! I'm not new to Atkins but I just started back and lost 7 pounds in a week! Unfortunately, I fell off the wagon for the next 3 weeks. But, I am getting back on!! Here is my question. In order for my ketosis stick to stay in the purple range, i can only eat chicken, fish, steak, eggs, butter and the induction veggies and only 20 carbs per day. I gain weight and my ketosis stick turns white If i even look at a bite of cheese, cream, or an atkins ,induction approved ,bar. I suspect i have Candida. Does this happen to anyone else? The food mentioned above is extremely boring after a couple of weeks. Please help. I have 110 pounds to lose but I cant imagine eating this way forever.
Thanks!! .....Sherry

Hi,
There are lots of ways of varying what you eat within those guidelines.

Like a bacon, egg, mushroom, and tomato fry up.
Steak and salad
Meat with mushrooms, onions, courgettes, baby sweetcorn, cooked gently in butter with cheese melted on the top.

Stick with it, it does get easier, and maybe check out the recipe section. I'm new here but have lost over 4 stones with atkins previously so know my way around a little bit

However I sense that your problem here is your ketosis sticks.
I posted earlier in the week about my sticks not changing and was recommended to read this topic. Hopefully it will help you too.

Sherry... yes, the link Dotty posted to the piece about ketostix is well worth reading. Don't stress over the sticks. There are many variables to the way they react. Lots of people get to goal without the sticks ever turning colour.

If you think you have candida, you might like to post in the Candida forum ( http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...splay.php?f=61 ), or read the stickies there. Or it could be that you are sensitive to dairy products. Try taking them out for a week or so and see how you get on.

You also mentioned low carb bars. Be warned that they stall a huge amount of people. Also disregard the claim that they're induction legal. Most contain soy and other products that are definitely not induction legal. Atkins Nutritionals is a business, so they're interest is to sell bars and shakes and other products.

Stick with legal foods and you'll probably start losing again. There are loads of recipes and suggestions to be had on this board.

Keep us posted on your progress!

Hi,
I just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Jacqui and i live in australia and need to lose weight due to diabetic problems, high blood pressure etc. I have been doing induction now for 7 weeks as i have about 45 kilos to lose.
My problem is the first two weeks i lost 3 kilos yipee and the last four weeks I havent lost a thing infact put on a kilo
Sadly I am on alot of the meds that could be a problem but cant go off them yet until i lose some weight. I am trying so hard to stay possitive but its driving me insane that i cant lose the weight and its only early days yet.
I have been sticking to the diet religiously.I was drinking too much diet sodas so removed them completely and still havent lost anything.I want this so badly but feeling rather down about it.Dont want to give up as i have worked so hard the last few weeks at not eating a thing that i shoulnt.
My days go something like this.

breakfast
3 slices bacon

lunch
2 cups of salad vegetables
tbsp mayo
medium handful grated cheese
medium size tin tuna with oil
splash of vinegar.

Dinner
what ever meat I have bought

supper
1 cup of diet jelly.

if i get peckish i have a slice of cheese and would have about 3 cups of decaff coffee a day with a splash of cream.
I also drink about 5 glasses of water a day.

Any advise would be great.

thanks
jacqui

Hi Sherry. I believe I have the same problem as you with the cheese, creamcheese, and heavy cream. If you look at my stats at the bottom you can see I have pretty much stalled out since September at a 29 lb. loss. Don't know why this happens but I can't imagine going without these products. Have you done the spit test? As soon as you get up take a glass of water and spit into it, wait around 10 minutes and check to see if the spit is floating on top or if it is making whispery spider legs. If you can see the legs you are positive for the yeast. Good luck!
