Default New to Atkins, Just starting today

Hi everyone! I just wanted to introduce myself here because I have been lurking for a while and finally made the decision to give this a try. A friend of mine is doing this with me as well, so I hope that will give me motivation off the board.

I am a work-at-home mom of 3 children, ages 6,4, and 2. I really find it hard to find time to exercise but am going to try and start going to the YMCA during the times childcare is offered.

My current weight is 195 lbs and I am 5'7". I have taken my measurements and everything, so I think I am ready to get started! My goal weight is 150 lbs and I am so excited to start heading that way. My hubby, who is not participating with me, actually got up and cooked my breakfast (scrambled eggs and sausage) this morning and he can not even stand eggs. I was so suprised!

Well I just wanted to say hello to everyone and I hope to be hanging out here for a long time, if that is alright. I am going to post a before pic later.

Shannon

Welcome aboard Shannon, As far as exercise goes, When my daughter was little I had her exercise to the videos I had. She was only two or three, but it made it fun. If you can't get to the Y then try that. Good thing your husband is supporting you. I got down to 117 lbs and put back on all the weight plus some. Didn't help my husband was buying everything I shouldn't eat. Good luck and keep us posted.....Dawn

Welcome Shannon! This is only my second week on induction. I have lost 8 lbs so far! The weight loss is great. If you have days where you don't feel so good, just hang in there. It doesn't last long! You can do it! So can I!!!

Welcome to ADBB and Atkins! This is a great place for support, questions, and motivation. Check out some of the before and after pics if you haven't already!

As far as exercise is concerned, maybe you need to do what I am doing - just start with a small amount 5 or 10 minutes a day. It's better than nothing! I have a 10 minute workout DVD and I am also starting the stair-climbing challenge in the Exercise Challenge Forum.

Peaches1122- Congratulations on your weight loss! that is great and very motivational!

Attek- Thank you for the advice about the exercise, I may have to try and get some of those short workouts. I have checked out the before and after pictures -- that is my reason for actually trying!!! )

Hi Shannon. Congratulations on making the committment to get healthy with us. I'm glad you've taken your measurements....it will definitely be a great motivator for you to see the inches melting as well as the weight dropping. One thing I've found that helps in finding time to do exercise with the kids around is to include them in the exercise routine. They love to be involved and it is a way to show them good habits while you stay on track with your own needs. Marching in place to their music, letting them pick the exercises, and dancing are good exercises and keeps them interested.

Best wishes! Keep us posted on your progress....can't wait to hear of your success!

Welcome to the board and this WOL!! I could never exercise with my 3 yr old around.. he always wants to pounce on me while I'm trying to do anything on the floor... so I think the Y is a great plan!! Did you ever get around to checking out the exercise challenges??
