Talking Newbie...3 days in!

Hi everyone. I'm Janet and I decided to start Atkins after a friend recommended it to me. She really inspired me with her success and after many years of dieting attempts (some successful...most failed!) I decided to try something which seems to have a proven success rate!

I'm half way through my 3rd day on induction and I've already managed to shift 6 lbs! I realise most of that is probably fluid weight...but for someone who's been dieting forever and succeeding only in adding more weight to my burdened frame...It's somewhat of a breakthrough!

Thanks Sallyseachange! I've been browsing the boards for a couple of days now and I've been really inspired by some of the success stories and also the before and after pics.
So far I've found induction to be fairly easy to stick to...although snacks seem to be a problem for me and my daughter who also started Atkins with me on Monday. I'm sure by reading through the various threads we'll find some of the answers we need!

How cool that you have your daughter to do Atkins with you! It makes a huge difference to be able to share successes or trials and tribulations with someone close.

Here's a link to Linda's recipe site... which is awesome. It has a "snack" section. The recipes with the asterisk are induction legal: http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/index.html

Thanks sillygirl! Things are going well so far...I was totally addicted to coca cola until starting Atkins on Monday, somedays I could drink upwards of 2 litres a day I've been really suprised that i've had no cravings for it at all so far...water is doing nicely!

HAH! See that? You only THOUGHT you were addicted to coke! It's great you have no cravings for it!

Yeah! I think too that on previous dieting attempts I've always felt deprived of food...starving hungry with nothing much to look forward to...i've always slipped back to drinking coke! With Atkins I know I can look forward to delicious satisfying meals...the thought of coke never enters my head!
