Post Hi *waves*

Hi all,
I'm new to the boards and wanted to say hi
I'm 39 years old, and have been over weight my whole life. I have no idea what it would even feel like to not be over weight. I have been over 300 pounds for 20 years (2 times I got out of them to about 285, but it only lasted a couple months, and I was right back in the 300's again). 20 years is a long time to be in this struggle, and I'm tired now, and very ready. This is my second round with Atkins (kind of). I tried it 3 years ago, but I tried it without a book, without Induction, and with my sister telling me the things I should eat because she was on it...lol. Oh and everyday I had a teaspoon of chocolate frosting that I kept in the fridge This time I have the book, I'm doing Induction, and I have no chocolate frosting in the fridge

I have been pretty sick with nausea the last 4 days, and a lot of headaches. I am worried about it making me depressed, and giving up. I'm hoping it will go away soon. The nausea is really bad. I looked in the book, and didn't see anything about nausea. I have a long way to go, but I really want and need to do this. I was diagnosed with diabetes a year and a half ago, and I haven't been able to get my sugar under control, even with the meds. But since I started Atkins it is the first time my sugars have been so good I really want to get my diabetes under control (really I want it GONE). I have a 6 year old daughter, Serena, who I want to be here for. She means everything to me. Anyways, I'm rambling. I'm really looking forward to getting to know all of you

Hi Nicole

Welcome to ADBB!
I'm new at this myself, so sorry I don't have the answers you're looking for as regards the nausea, although I'm sure I've read something regarding that in the Induction Forum. You should have a good look in there as there are many answers to be had for us newbies!

It's great to hear you seem to be getting your blood sugar under control with Atkins and I'm certain that you'll soon begin to see a big difference in your weight if you stick with it!

I'm sure you'll find, as I have, that everyone is very friendly and helpful and ready to offer advice and encouragement! The before and after pics are also a great inspiration...you should take a look and see some of the fantastic success stories!

Good luck...look forward to hearing how you're doing

Janet

Hi O.2.Be.Fit!

You've made a great choice coming back to Atkins (without the frosting ).

The nausea you're feeling is common, many people experience flu-like symptoms for a few days after starting the Induction phase of Atkins...so no worries. I know it's hard to put a positive spin on a sick tummy, but it really is good news, it's part of the withdrawal process and you're that much closer to appetite suppression and energy! Check out the Induction Chapter, there's a chapter on addiction/withdrawal.

Stay strong, you can do it!

Hiya Nicole and welcome to ADBB! Congrats on starting minus frosting!!

You've given yourself a wonderful gift by deciding to re-commit to Atkins. Your sugar levels will improve (well, they already have!!) and you'll soon be feeling fitter and more energised.

The induction flu is a real pest, but it does only last a few days... one day soon you'll wake up feeling terrific! Hang in there... it's soooooo worth it. Nausea is probably part of the induction flu.

Ask any questions that might crop up... we all understand and empathise, and of course are happy to help out when we can.

Happy losing!

Hi! Welcome to the board. Atkins is a great way for keeping diabetes in check. Have you gone over to the Diabetic forum?

Thank you sooooo much everyone!!! I feel so welcome
I feel a little better today with the nausea, but the headaches are still bad. The worst actually today. I'm in day 11, so I hope and pray it ends soon.
I have been checking out the boards little by little, and they're so helpful
Thank you again for everything!!!

11 days! Good for you Nicole. Stick with it hon, it will get better. Each day makes it easier. Make sure you're eating enough, and make sure you're drinking lots of water. I have been very lucky never to get the induction flu when I started so long ago, so unfortunately I have nothing to compare it with for you. I do know that with what I've read in these forums, it will pass. And you know what, we'll be right here with each step of the way! These folks are so awesome here, they give the help and tough love when you need it! Good luck and keep us all posted!

Thanks
