Default Newbee here, In desperate need of bread!!!

Hey, well now that I have your attention, let me introduce myself. My name is Jessica. I am on my fist week of atkins, I have already lost 7 pounds in 3 days, so I am really siked. I started because I thought it would be really easy considering I love meat, but. I have found out I am a carb FREAK!!!! I miss my carbs so bad, but I am staying true to the diet. I know if I stay srtict and true, the pound will keep coming off. It is really hard not to be ably to eat rice or anything though. I will be searching for recipes soon as I am burning out on the steak and eggs already. I will keep everyone posted on my results. Also, I have panic disorder if anyone here would like to chat about that! Wish me good luck, Oh and I just wanted everyone here to know that reading your stories has inspired me to start thank you all very much!!

i am in love with carbs also. potatoes, rice and bread. i miss it all dearly and i'm only at the end of day TWO! - i do spend a lot of time on the atkins website checkin' out the receipes..and if you search the web using "carbohydrates" in the search engine lots of links come up that will lead u to even more receipe sites! - you'll find that low carb menus are very simple/easy to prepare. i'm looking forward to Phase 2 where i can be more creative, but in the meantime stay true to the induction phase and you'll be glad you did! - Welcome Aboard!

Peace -
Charley

You'll get through those cravings pretty quickly. I think one of the most important thing is to eat all of your vegetables. It sounds kind of crazy, but it seems that if you start doing the protein-only thing, your body gets sick of it quicker. You'll find good substitutions... cauliflower (mock potato) salad, mashed cauliflower (yummy with sour cream and butter), spaghetti squash cooked up and mixed with butter and garlic (tastes like pasta).

You should look for the recipes BEFORE you get burned out (you'll be much less frustrated that way).

Mix up the veggies - don't just do the broccoli/greenbean/tossed salad thing.

I like using cucumber slices instead of crackers for dips. It also gives you that crunch. You can also use pork rinds for that, tho. Pork rinds are GREAT - you'll see them in recipes for everything from chicken breading to FRENCH TOAST (I kid you not!)

YOU CAN DO THIS!!! I don't know much about panic disorders, but I have a child with bipolar and one with suspected schizophrenia... It's a day by day battle, isn't it?

Atkins is the same way - going carb-free. Take one day at a time. Worry about today and let the tomorrows take care of themselves....

love ya!

Welcome Reyna! Happy you decided on Atkins to lead you to better health and a trimmer figure.

Cocobelle gave you great advice. Rest assured, if you eat right, the cravings soon diminish.
Yes... check out the recipes and this link: http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/index.html The recipes on Linda's site are awesome. Note that the ones with the asterisk are induction friendly.
Hope this helps.

Welcome on board, give it a little more time, I swear try some of those recipes from that site that sallyseachange recommended...Linda's Low Carb....they are fantastic. Some of the recipes sound a bit bizarre, but I gave them a try and yikes...awesome!

Good Luck!

Cool, thanks everyone, I will look at the recipes right now! I like your ideas cocobelle, I am going to try some, they sound a bit yucky, but I will eat anything that taste like mashed potatoes!

one more thing, by the way...there is a recipe floating around for fake mashed potatoes, and I'm telling you this...they are to freaking die for!! Like you said they sound weird, but made right they rock! I had these at Thanksgiving this year, and my Carb eating family and my vegan brother....ate my mashed cauiflower, add some chives, some garlic, some cream..............yummy.................oh yeah....and now guess what....it's for dinner tonight! Good luck....send an email or make another post here if you can't find it, when I get home tonight I will post it here for you! Good luck!

Keep at it and it gets better! Seriously. I thought I'd die for pasta. I loved pasta. Almost a year later and you know what, not so much with the pasta anymore. I get a craving for bread every now and again. I find something to do or i eat something friendly.
