Default Help please...crazy craving, New Here too!

Hello everyone! I have been on atkins for 12 days now and have lost 10 pounds! I am really happy about that and everything...but..., up until today it really has been easy not eating carbs. I was very suprised that I wasn't freaking out more or reaaalllly hungry like every other diet I have been on. But TODAY, holy freakin moly! All I can think about is ice cream, pizza, and french fires. I haven't cheated yet and the day is almost over but I am going nuts! I have tried everything. Exercise, yoga, meditation cd, vacuuming, dishes, water. But the cravings are still here. Is it possible that my body has postponed the cravings for 12 days? Can anyone please shed some light on this dilema? Thanks so much. BTW I really need to stick with this I have ballooned to 282 ponds over the last 2 years and really need to get the weight off!

Looks like you are doing a great job congrats on your loss.

A craving can hit you easily according to what you have eaten, Like if I drink my diet rite zero I seem to have a sugar craving all day. When my daughter bakes her chocolate chip cookies I crave them, but I dont/wont cheat.

Check out our recipe section for induction safe snacks, there are some really amazing recipes in there, and they do help with cravings. Especially the ones with pumpkin..yummy!
Good luck and hang in there they will ease off soon.

Hi there - I wanted to add to what the others have said - since this came on you today sort of all of a sudden, it would be worth taking a few minutes to look at what foods you ate preceeding the onset of the cravings...you may learn that there is something in your menu that caused your craving - and then you know to be careful with that in the future - it could even be something you have been eating all along that you simply ate more of recently. One other thing to check is are your percentages of fat(65) protein(30) carbs(5) still in line?

Also, I wanted to say congrats for all of the alternatives you used to help keep you from giving in to the cravings. You did a great job and should be very proud of yourself for that!

Welcome to ADBB and congrats on your success so far! Congrats also for resisting the cravings.
Kylie and the others gave you great advice. It helps to always keep a high fat snack to hand in case the cravings hit. But do, do think back to what you ate before the cravings. As Kylie said it could be something you added to your foods that is the cause.

Keep us posted as to how you get along.

Hi Rene! Wowie! 10 pounds so far is really terrific. Your cravings will subside with time. Sometimes it's more psychological, than physical. As you move up the rungs you can add a wide variety of foods that will satisfy any cravings you get. The consistent weight loss is another way to not give in to cravings.
