Default Starting Off Fresh

I've done Atkins twice in the past and have had success with it. I lost around a total of 10lbs each time I was on it. The first time, I did the entire two week induction, but found myself so warn out and spent that I decided to stop. On top of that, my family was encouraging me to abandon the diet and to look for other ways to keep myself in shape. Because of that, I probably gained about 15lbs. Now, I am 5'3 and I weight around 124lbs. To you, this may not seem like a big number, but I was weighing in at 110lbs last summer. I'd like to get myself back down to this number. I felt more comfortable about myself when I was at that point.

The second time I tried Atkins, I fainted in the shower. I'm not entirely sure what was going on. I think my blood sugar level was way down. I was extremely hungry and I blacked out. I heard that I was probably drinking too much water for my current weight. If anyone has any insight on this please let me know. I immediately stopped doing the diet and was able to keep about 5 of the 7 lbs off that I lost.

So, here I am giving this Atkins thing another whirl. I know I'll have success as long as I make sure that I'm eating a mix of veggies and meat. My problem last time was the fact that I wasn't eat any carbs. I pretty much stuck to meat for the most part. If you knew anything about me, you'll know that I hate meat. I ate canned tuna and eggs every day. Now, I'm ready to do this thing the right way and to actually make it past the induction stage. I live on my own now and I have control over the groceries in my house. The only downfall is having a roommate. She isn't participating in Atkins or any kind of diet, but I know she completely respects my decision!

Hello there Kollegepryncis. Welcome to the board.
It's good to hear that you're determined to do Atkins beyond induction this time. I hope you'll feel better on it than you did last time.

It's important to eat enough... you need your three cups of veggies and your fats and proteins. The secret is to eat to satisfy your hunger, neither below above that, while keeping your carbs below 20g in induction.

Have you got a Fitday account? It's a very useful tool for keeping track of what you're eating. http://www.fitday.com/WebFit/Index.html

Remember that when you have very little to lose, the lbs come off slower, so don't be in a rush. If you follow the plan right, you'll get to goal.

Keep posting and let us know how you get on. We're behind you all the way.

Kollegepryncis44,

First off. Wow. You look absolutely stunning, before and after. Have you gotten a copy of the 2002 edition of Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution? If you do, it might really help you with some of the decisions that didn't work too good the first couple times around. I swear, get past those first couple weeks of induction and the energy will be there, you just have to make sure you follow the 'blueprint' so to speak that Dr A had provided us all. I see you don't have a lot of weight to lose, so just be wary that it might take a little longer than normal, but it's all good, I'm sure you'll do fine.

That fitday site that Sally mentioned, is fantastic, make sure you log everything you eat. Also there is a forum called 'Review My Menu' that you might want members to look at and comment upon too. My name is Scooter, and I'm very pleased to meet you and welcome you to our wonderful board. Since you've done the plan a couple times, we have a forum called Second Time Around Club, we do a roll call everyday, discuss goals, excercise plans etc. don't be a stranger, stop in and say hello.

I'd like for you to look at these threads as well, that might be able to assist you even further...
