| Why thank you everyone for the warm welcom. Yes I read the DANDR. I just have a problem with the fat that you can eat. The books says you cannot lose the weight if you try to keep the diet low fat. I never did eat alot of fat. Why can we not keep this diet low fat? |

| Because FAT is what we're using for fuel! Think of it this way. If you're driving in your car and the gas guage is on empty, do you put a quart of oil in it? No, you fill it up with gas! On Atkins, fat is our fuel. During induction, our bodies go into a fatburning mode called ketosis. We switch from using carbs as our fuel source to using FAT as our fuel source. On Atkins Induction, your daily percentages should be 65% fat, 30% protein, and 5% carbs. Don't be afraid of fats. They're healthy! You're allowed to eat butter, cream, olive oil, full-fat cheeses, animal fat, chicken skin, etc. Just make sure to avoid transfats--not for "carb" reasons but for general health ones.

| Hi candoit! Welcome to the board. You will see, when you start to read around the board, how remarkable it is that most people's cholesteral and blood pressure goes down while eating this way. There's been quite a few articles on this topic that are posted in the News and Research forum, here's the link: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...splay.php?f=43 Don't be afraid. You will be quite pleased with the results and the ease of eating natural, whole foods, including fat!

Also... there's lots of evidence that saturated fats are not the unhealthy monsters they've always been made out to be. Quite the contrary! Relax and eat your fats and legal foods... up to "hunger satified" level only though. Overeating will have you gaining whatever the plan. Keep posting and keep us in the know.
