Default Re: New to Atkins - can we do it? YES WE CAN!!

I once ordered a lot of granular splenda (for baking) from the US... and got it in the end, but with lots of customs problems. You probably wouldn't have those in Malta because it's just Italy that is notoriously bad. However, the place I ordered it from no longer stocks it. I think you can order it from Netrition (if you google it you'll get the site... probably netrition.com or something).
You can order the little sachets from in the UK at http://www.lowcarbmegastore.com/ but they don't stock the granular splenda there. Your mum could bring some back for you though. She would be able to buy granular splenda in health food stores there, I know as my SIL has just brought me four boxes.
Hope this helps.

Greetings Babywoogie! Yes, you CAN do it.

Splenda - maybe someone from UK can post you a large box of Splenda Tablets - the sort in the plastic dispenser box - that must get you the most slpenda for the postage cost. If the tablets cant be dissolved in the food, crush a tablet or two between two teaspoons and dissolve in water.

Splenda in the preferred but not the only Atkins legal sweetener. Saccharin is also allowed. You must be able to find that in some form. Some varieties of Hermesetas are saccharin based (Avoid Hermesetas Gold or the granules - they are NOT Atkins legal)

I use Hermesetas Liquid or Splenda in granular or tablet form.

The Hermesetas website shows standard Hermesetas saccharin tablets are available in Malta, but you must be able to find some generic saccharin.

Good look! Be a big loser!!

Hi Janet! Welcome to the board. Malta, huh? I bet you win for being from the smallest place. You're the first person I've ever met from Malta! I'm sure you will be able to locate some Splenda soon. Other than that, how's your eating going?

You might want to start yourself a journal in Journal Chats, or join the Women's Forum (you must get admission to that by PM-ing Lauren or richt). Make yourself at home around here and you will meet tons of friendly people with loads of support and advice.

Default Re: New to Atkins - can we do it? YES WE CAN!!

hey guys,

Thank you for all your comments, much appreciated, if I ever feel like giving up like i do right now i know where i have to come cause, only people who are doing this WOE can really understand some frustrations.

First of all, Malta is indeed very tiny but for the island it is we surely have lots of Supermarkets and Luckily enough i found one which SELLS SPLENDA......WHIIHOOOOO!! It was kinda of funny cause as soon as i saw it on the Shelf i ran towards it, my face lit up, my eyes popped out and I shouted YESSSSSSSS!! this women just stared at me as if i was crazy....LOLOLOL my efforts of running around more super markets paid off!!

i have a question that acutally only a women can answer to........right now i'm waiting for my monthly menstrual cycle and even though i still feel light, the scales went up and i'm a ittle depressed as it feels that my efforts this past week did not effect. We tend to get water retention before and during these days, I am right in thinking that this is effecting my weight loss right now!!

hey Silly girl,

My eating seems to be going fine, actually since i started this WOE i have been eating more, cause i dont really get hungry. For example, eating in the morning is not really something that i enjoy and am glad to stay without breakfast but now i'm taking scrambles eggs or bacon, of turkey and cheese and 1 decaf coffee than in the afternoon i take tuna with soft cheese, or a salad and in the even i take chicken or some other protein with veg. How am i doing? I could keep a journal but with a 2 year boy its hard enough finding some time to write here let alone..LOL....i try my best

Labarum weigh to go on your weight loss and thks for checking out about splenda in malta!! xx

I'll keep you all posted

Hi Janet ( waving from australia)

BE patient with your weight loss. Most people find that the weight comes off in fits and starts and does fluctuate here and there. TOM ( time of month) can certainly make you retain water which will disappear once it is over again. There will often be times when you feel discouraged but hang in there and you will have success. In the meantime you can always come in here for a whinge and some sympathy !At least you know you are not alone !!!! GOOD LUCK

Donna

Down under is great Janet although we are not getting enough rain at the moment!
My scales havent budged for a few weeks either -- but it will happen when it is ready. I leave out milk and cookies everynight for the whooshie fairy but i think she has forgotten where I live! I really need to get more excercise in but it gets dark pretty early here now as we are heading into winter. To excercise during the day would mean i have to close my salon ( not good or business) I have been known to do "laps" of the salon ( picture mad woman power walking backwards and forwards from one end of hairdressing salon to the other 100 times) maybe i should install a treadmill ! ( i would if i had the space!) It feels so great to be 10 kilos lighter -- cant even begin to imagine how 20 kilos gone will feel....ONWARD TO GOAL I GO

Hey Donna,

Well we didn't get enough rain this winter either but now i'm looking forward till summer hopefully i will loose quite a bit by than i just need to push my self more in exercising. I have a tredmill at home, but by the time my 2 yr old son is asleep i feel tired my self. I just have to keep telling my self that it has to be part of my day to day routine.

Still, I have a few doubts on some items i'm eating so they told me to go to the 'this is my menu' forum and will check it our right ofter i write this. I am taking part in the veggie challenge that should be great cause i'm very fussy with veg. Hey y dont u join in too.....we could be buddies and keep each other motivated in all this

Take care

PS - My TOM has not come yet.......a few more days and i'll test that out
