Default Hopeful

Hello,

My name is Lynn. I am the one that Disneygirl mentioned that we are doing this together. She is my inspiration! I wouldn't be doing anything but getting sicker without her. She even bought me the book. Thanks Gina. Also, thanks to all of you for giving your stories. They are interesting to read and it seems like everyone is so supportive.

I have been overweight for most of my adult life. I have been on and off diet after diet. I have lost weight lots of times and have always gained it back and them some. I have been a type II diabetic for about 5 years or more, my feet hurt, I get depressed, and am not in general good health. You would think that would be enough to get me to loose weight but I have not been able to succeed at any diets I have tried. As a matter of fact the weight keeps going up and my blood sugar follows.

I started Monday with my friend on Atkins. I tried it before, but I didn't have the book and just went off others information. It didn't work. Well, after the reading I have done so far, no wonder. I wasn't doing it right.

It has only been 4 days and I have lost 5 lbs. That is exciting because lately I haven't been able to loose a pound. What is more exciting is I just tested my blood sugar and it is 101. In case anyone doesn't know if that's good, anything under 110 is normal. (I am usually anywhere from 154 to 200) I have not seen this number ever since I have been testing. I am amazed! That in itself is my motivation to continue on!!!

P.S. Thin Lizzi is a high school name that I want to live up to!

Lynn

Hi Lynn,
That's GREAT!!! My sugar levels have been good too. My Dr. told me I can stay off all my meds now, and I have been doing it since February 1st. Like you my feet were really hurting, and made me so depressed. I go back and see my Dr. on the 19th, and just got blood work done today. He told me that Atkins was the best thing I could be doing for myself. I am a true believer that this helps diabetes. My levels for over a year and a hald were in the 200 and 300's (once hitting 444 ) and that was on the meds. Now they are in always below 150 (usually in the 120's now). For me, that is amazing. And they just keep getting better. Keep it up. I started this to try and get control of my diabetes...for me, the weightloss is a HUGE plus!!! Good luck!!!

Thanks for the encouragement. I am looking forward to my next scheduled blood work. I bet it will be much better. My goal too is to get off the meds and hike again and still be able to walk the next day.

You are doing great! Keep going!

Welcome to you too Thinlizzi! Glad your friend showed you the way to us here at ADBB.

I've just posted recommending to her that she get hold of the book...but I now see from your post that not only does she probably already have one, but that she gave you a copy too! That's awesome. It's really important to understand the science behind this way of eating.
