Smile Another New Kid on the Block!

Hi everyone....I've been reading others intros and some of the other forum posts.....wow what a wonderful supportive group you have here.....I'm very glad I found it...
Well a little about myself....
My IRL name is Tammy - I am 42 years young, with 5 wonderful children....ranging in ages from 18 (graduating this yr) to 5 (just started school) so I have quite the array of phases going on....but it's always entertaining
This is really a strange position for me to be in....I have always been that sickening person that could eat anything, anytime and never had to worry about it.....well about a year ago that all changed......age, metabolism rate, life too busy to eat good foods, call it whatever you like, fact...I started putting on weight.....I am now 20-25 lbs heavier than I've ever been (with the exception of pregnancy of course) and slowly increasing. Compared to some, I know that sounds like so little weight, but I'm 5'1" and can't even begin to think of fitting into anything I own.....and yes, it's quite depressing....but it's all so foreign also....so I found myself looking for a way that I could not only lose some weight, but to create a different lifestyle in order to stay where I am happy with ME!!!
So where am I now with this wonderful ANA program? I started induction about a week and a half ago....just dove in....didn't have the book, didn't have a clue what I was doing, just heard this is what you do.....and over the course of a few days got more "legal information" about induction which I had already messed up on a few things.....
So today I found myself at Barnes and Noble...I have my books, my grocery shopping is done and I'm so excited to get started on the rest of my life.....beginning with those first 2 wks!!!
I'm so excited to have this site for support and have the opportunity to meet you all and to support you through your own lifechanging journies!!!
If you haven't figured it out already, I don't tell a short story.....teacher in me!!
Look forward to getting to know you all

Welcome Tammy! I know you'll find lots of good support here...I sure have! I started 3 weeks ago and have lost 7.5 lbs (I want to lose 25). It's not nearly as fast as my first time with Atkins, but I'm content with it. I exercise regularly now and try to follow 'the plan' as closely as possible. And best of all, I have found a host of motivation, enthusiasm and wisdom on this forum.

Best of luck to you...keep on postin'!

Hi Tammy!

Warm welcome on the board. There is a bunch of wonderful people here and they will help you anytime you need support.

I really recognize me in your story (even if I just have one child...), as I am not a VERY big person, just tired of not fitting into my old clothes. Tired of feeling old and wasted with just being 37! I definately refused getting new clothes during the last years (read: efter my pregnancy) which made me going around in the same two trousers all the time... Having like 15 trousers and 10 skirts in the closet which I am not fitting in... How much fun is that?
I went out shopping several times, as I thought I needed to accept my new sizes, but I couldn't find something I felt comfortable in. So most of the time I came home with a new shirt instead of a trouser (I am gaining weight on my butt and my legs, my upperbody doesn't grow that much...), I have tons of shirts! I really want to fit into my old clothes again, even if some of it might not be that modern today... Just getting back my old me and feeling young and full of energy again.

Keep on posting, it will be fun to here from you.
Stargirl
