| Hi sharon! If you havn't done so yet it's a good idea to take a trip to your doctors to get a base line on your lab work. It's good to have a base line on your cholesterol, LDL, HDL, A1C, and so on. Also it will help to detect if your thyroid is functioning correctly. In a few months have it done again. You'll be amazed at how your numbers will change,(for the better of course). Take a good multi-vitamin, and maybe start on a good fiber therapy. Don't forget to measure yourself each month at the same time. Don't just lock up your high carb food get rid of it.Start a personal journal and write down what you've eaten that day, how you feel, and what exercise you've done. Make sure you have enough of your allowed foods on hand for the induction phase. You don't want to set youself up for any pitfalls. Keep your allowed foods on hand at all times. Menu plan! Your going to feel so much better in no time. Wow the energy your going to feel! You hold the power within you to be successful ! |

| Good luck and hang in there is my advice! It's hard at first, but day by day it gets easier. So remember, when you feel like it's too tough, that it does get easier. |

| Hiya Sharon and welcome to ADBB! Glad you found us here. My tip would have to be: Do as clean an induction as you possibly can. Your weight loss after a clean induction will give you a good idea of what your CCLL (critical carb level for losing) will be in later phases of Atkins. It'll also tell you whether you're very metabolically resistent to weight loss or not. A clean induction means eating ONLY what's on the acceptable induction food lists. It also means not eating any of the bars and shakes whatever the claims that they're ok for induction. They aren't. Happy losing!
