Smile Hi been eating low carb two weeks

Hi everyone, I have been eating low carb for two weeks and have only lost five pounds...oh well it's better than nothing I guess. I did Atkins before and lost 35 lbs it just seems like there is so much resistance out there from people. Sometimes I get discouraged but I do feel better. Everytime I check my ketones it is in the mild to moderate catagory. I have about 30 lbs to lose. I look forward to talking with you.

I'm in the same boat. This is my 8th day second time around and the stix show moderate ketosis but I'm not dropping lbs or inches from what I've seen so I'm kinda at a loss. I am not quitting because I feel 100% better and I don't feel like I'm missing the stuff I gave up that much anyways so I'm gonna stick it out surely if I'm in ketosis I have to lose eventually.

Layla, congrats on the 5 pounds! That is impressive, and it's 5 pounds that you'll never have to see again.

You are supposed to lose 5-10% of the total weight you'd like to lose during induction. What is your starting weight and goal weight? This will help put things into perspective. Also, what is your age, and are you on any medications? These things factor into how much you will lose, too.

If you feel you should have lost more, why not post a couple of typical menus in the Review My Menu forum. If something needs tweaking, we'll let you know!

Welcome Layla! Glad you found us here at ADBB. It's a terrific place to come to if you have queries about Atkins, need encouragement or motivation.

Congrats on you 5 lb loss. That's great! Juli is right... during induction (a clean induction), we usually lose between 5%-10% of the total weight we need to lose. You say you have 30 lbs to drop, so you're ahead of the game!

Looking forward to reading about your further success.
