| Hi there and welcome! I know that this isn't what you want to hear, but the best way to treat a sweet tooth is to starve it to death. The beauty of Atkins is that it gives us the opportunity to kick some of our worst food addictions and puts us on a path of healthy eating. Instead of looking for a sweet fix, try eating something fatty and filling. At this fragile, yet crucial stage you are probably not ready to indulge in the legal treats. That kind of self control will only come after the desire for sweets is not a NEED. Once you reach that point of control, you will know it. You'll find yourself satisfied by very little, or, yes, even find that the sweet stuff no longer tastes very good at all. If, however, you are on the verge of quitting due to your craving, poke around the recipe forums for legal treats. Frequently,a bit of cream cheese or whipped heavy cream with a bit of Splenda is enough to take the edge off of a craving. Just remember that you are only allowed 3 servings of sweetener a day. That's 3 packets or teaspoons, depending on which form of sweetener you are using. Oh, and stay away from aspartame. That stuff is pure poison! I still would advise you to tough it out, if you can. It really is worth it! I wish you the best of luck and success. PS: You have a truly beautiful face! When you hit your weight loss goal, you're going to need a cattle prod to keep the guys off of you!

| Denaya, first congrats on losing the first 20 lbs! That's a huge accomplishment! Everyone goes through the sweet cravings until your body is detoxified from the yucky sugar and carbs. For some it takes up to 2 weeks to notice the cravings subsiding. If you are in a state that you must have something or fall off the wagon, whip up some heavy cream (bout 1/2 cup), add a packet of splenda and a tablespoon of unsweetened cocoa powder. It tastes like chocolate mousse! Another option is mixing a little cream cheese (remember you are only allowed 3-4 ounces of cheese daily and each packet of splenda counts as 1 carb) with a packet of splenda. This is like a rich cheesecake. You can also put a dash or two of cinnamon or something like that to give it a kick. And if all else fails you can make an induction friendly ice cream: 2 cups heavy cream 4 egg yolks 1/2 vanilla bean, slit open and scraped or 1T vanilla extract 8 packets splenda Heat cream in sauce pan over a low heat. Whisk in one egg yolk at a time. Add vanilla bean scrapings and whisk until custard begins to thicken. Remove from heat and cool. Beat one packet of splenda at a time into cooled custard. Freeze until set for ice cream consistancy or put in fridge for custard. Makes 6 1/2 cup servings. Carb grams per serving 3.5 Hope this helps! Stick with it, you will notice the cravings going away soon!

| Finding a sweet alternative is ok, but if you have a sweet addiction isn't that half of why you're in this situation? Wouldn't it be better to get over sweets for good? I know that if I have a legal dessert it sends me deeper into a cheat. If you have absolute control over yourself, then by all means- have the desserts. I Just wanted to tell you that it can send you in a downward spiral if you're still a sugar addict like I am. Best of luck to you!!

| I eat the SF jello but I hear the cool whip still has the high fructose corn syrup in it.

| STAY AWAY FROM THE SWEETS! I'm going to agree with disco on this one. If you have a sweet tooth, don't encourage it. Crush that little beast with all your might. Feeding a sweet tooth or a craving encourages the craving and solves nothing. So pretend you didn't read those recipes, and continue on with a CLEAN induction. What's a clean induction? No caffiene, no sodas, no coffee, NO SWEETENERS, no frankenfoods. This first 2 weeks will set the stage for the rest of your Atkins journey, and by doing a clean induction, you'll be doing what's best for your body. Jello is not recommended because it contains aspartame, which can stall many people, and stay away from Cool Whip, it has HFCS, and it's a frankenfood.

| Hi Denayahopeful! Welcome to the board. I have to agree with everyone else. Don't encourage the sweet tooth! Once your body is well into this, chances are you won't crave them. And as others said, there are plenty of legal treats you can make! I wish you continued success, and it's nice you have someone live doing this with you!

| The sweet thing is probalby one of the hardest things to get over. I try drinking the sugar free/calorie free drink mixes in a little bit of water if I'm dying-of-the-need-for-sweets, but only a little. Usually the Crystal Lite ones, or Lipton makes a green tea one too. I agree with others, though, stomp the sweet monster into the ground, and go forward form there. Great job on the first 20 lbs! Keep at it, and you'll get over the cravings. Remember to drink your water too.
