| Hiya Gisy and welcome back to the Atkins way of eating! Welcome to the board also. Sorry to hear your diagnosis of hypertension. Doing Atkins usually works wonders for all those important numbers (blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar), so take a deep breath and jump back on the wagon. It may be hard at first, but after a few days of gritting your teeth you'll find it gets easier and easier. Soon you'll get the benefit of appetite suppression and lessening of cravings. Post lots and ask any questions you might have. We're here to cheer you along the road! You can do it!

| I agree with what Sally said, Atkins usually improves our numbers and thus when we are doing better physically...our mental outlook improves as well. As for the motivation you seek...there is no better place than the ADBB. Get involved with the people here by joining challenges, responding to the forums and making yourself feel at home. Read/look at the before/after photos and stories. Re-read the book (Dr. Atkins new diet revoluton, edition 2002) and make a plan to incorporate it into your daily routine. With a plan and the support you'll receive here...and with the way you'll start to feel good mentally and physically...the motivation will grow. You can do it! We are all here for you. I look forward to hearing about your success in future posts.

| Hi there Gisy! Welcome to the board. Can you pinpoint why it's difficult for you to get into this way of eating? It does take a few days to get used to. After about 2 days, all carbs will be gone from your body and it will become easier and easier. I hope this will help your hypertension too!

| your fear of hypertension is GOOD motivation. as the nike as says..."just do it." you just start,,,get thru the first few days and you will feel so much better so quickly. you know you can get results....JUST DO IT GIRL...we're all here to help you |

| Fear made me start this WOE, too! I wasn't hypertensive yet, but I was borderline and I did NOT want to take the medication. Stick with us and you can do it!
