| Welcome back, you can do it. I could relate to some of what you wrote, particularly the part in regards to the alcohol. While I would not consider myself an alcoholic, I have always considered myself a maintenance drinker, drinking about 4 times per week. That is usually the hardest part for me, giving up my Coors Light and Margaritas, as I've never been much of a sweets eater. But this time around I haven't had the slightest craving, and the only thing I have done differently then every other time is I have found something I am passionate about. For me that's my kayaking. When I think I want a drink, I think how much better I feel when I go for a paddle instead. With 5 kids between 5-21, its been years since I've felt free to find myself and my own passions, and I strongly suggest that you try to find yours as you are starting again. The way of eating is just one portion of the bigger way of life, which needs to include nurturing yourself, your dreams and desires. Also, as for clothes shopping, have you tried Fashion Bug? That's my favorite, not only does it have the larger sizes as long as we need them, but you can also find yourself drifting over to the smaller sizes we still dream about, and you'll still be able to shop there when you hit goal. Good luck and welcome back. |

| Sigh... I remember doing that. After my divorce I got really thin.. I don't know what I weighed but my size 3 leather skirt was loose. I started to look bad. I just couldn't eat. Food actually hurt. Then one day it occurred to me.. "ulcer?". Sure enough I did have one. A few years later I was depressed and eating any darn thing I wanted to feel good. And boy did I eat. When I found myself at 198 I suddenly woke up. I started getting some exercise and changing my eating habits.. after a few years I was down about 35 pounds... but it was slow and hard. Then my cousin told me about Atkins. I bought the book. I started doing it.. I hit the low 140's quickly and maintained that for years. I met my husband and strayed good through out our dating... then we got married.. Fro some reason eating that wedding cake triggered a non stop binge.. Now two years later I was up to 177. So I'm back and as of today I'm at 162... I started back on August first. I keep thinking about all the things in life a want to look and feel good for. That gives me the added strength to stick to it. Well, at least so far. I think you can do it.. If I can then you can....

| Welcome to the board! I hear ya on the shopping thing. I hated doing it, especially when I use to worship the people who created Lane Bryant (LB). I had moments thanking God that I didn't go in with my bra on backwards because sometimes it felt like I couldn't get anything to fit right. Hang in there! Keep your focus and you'll be saying bye-bye to LB and hello to a new you |
