| Welcome to the Bulletin Board. You will find tons of support here, I promise. As for doing the diet cheaply, buy your meats and vegetables in bulk when they're on sale. Especially frozen vegetables. Those things last forever. Don't bother with "goodies". They slow your progress down anyhow, for the most part. Don't buy drinks, just drink filtered tap water (if you have a filter).

| Hello Robin, glad to see you have decided to do something for you and only you. This way of eating is the best gift you could ever give to yourself. Answering your question. Buy plenty of eggs. I love them just about anyway a person can fix one. Most people say this diet is costly but it has been just the opposite on my billfold. I used to spend tons of money on junk food and fast food while I was on the go and then i would still come home and eat a meal. I think you will be pleasantly surprised on the cost of this way of eating. As Katarina said avoid all the goodies, they only stall. Drink your water, it doesnt get much cheaper than that for your liquids. That was probably my biggest savings. Water compared to a 12 pack of coke a day., equals big savings. good luck to you.

As far as eating this way inexpensively goes, one way is to buy in bulk! When you see something on sale, get it so it's readily available for you. Bare bones is good, there is no need to eat the processed foods or spend the money when fresh foods are better.

| Price wise it sort of balanced out for me. I buy more good meats now but on the other hand I spend a lot less on snacks. Just switching to all water for example saved a ton of money. I used to drink at (the very) least 2 32 ounce sodas a day at $1.30. Thats $2.60 savings a day or in other words about $78 a month. That can buy a lot of meat and veggies!

| Warm welcome! Glad you came here and posted to the board. If you stick with this way of eating and do Atkins to a "T", you'll soon (in your words) recognise the person looking back at you from the mirror! Atkins cheaply? As the others said: buy bulk, special offers, and buy lots of eggs. Happy Atkineering!

| Thanks all for the welcome and advice, it seems to be working, 5.6 lbs. down first 2 days and ketosis today. Now to keep my mindset on doing the best thing for me and not giving in to stress eating. What are the best ways to stay motivated? I would like to join a challenge, how can I find out which ones are active right now? Thanks, Robin |
