Default starting again

Hi everyone,
I'm excited for to start losing weight. I've done Atkins several times over the years and it has always helped me. However, I have strayed in the last few years and my weight has steadily crept up. I stopped doing yoga when I started graduate school, stopped walking as much when I moved from New York to L.A. and am now carrying 155 pounds on a 5'4 frame. I was recently trying to lose some weight through a low fat, low calorie , mainly vegetarian diet. After a month of 1200 calories a day and exercising I hadn't lost one pound! I am a serious carb addict - bread, rice, pasta, red wine. Atkins has always helped me to deal with those cravings.
So: I'm (re)starting induction today. My ultimate goal weight is 125. My first goal weight, hopefully by christmas, is 148. Anyone have any tips for speeding up induction? I've sort of been doing it for five days, but had some drinks on my birthday. Haven't seen any loss at all yet.
thanks, and good luck
ceecee

Welcome ceecee. Glad to have you join us. You'll find lots of inspriational people here to lend you support. My best advice is to read the book, educate yourself on doing Atkins the way Dr. Atkins advised and become active in the ADBB. There are lots of forums, recipes, challenges, journals and warm hearted people that will keep you motivated and help you form your individual plan for success. Best wishes...post often so we can share your journey with you!

Hi Ceecee and happy belated birthday. A clean induction (no booze!) will help speed up your induction-alcohol is burned first by the body, so your not burning fat.
Welcome aboard

Hi Ceecee, sounds like you are on your way, you know you can do this and do well. However, I would recommend re-reading the book and doing a clean induction. You are going to do great. Good luck.

Hi and welcome, the only tip I could give you is the first time I did the Atkins I had no meat or any product that had nitrates in them, also always check the sugar count in the product! This is one thing I failed to do. See you around!

thanks all for the good advice!
I've now done four by-the-book days and have lost 5 pounds, so I think it was the drinks that kept me from losing. BTW, are we allowed to eat atkins bars during induction? I have been, though I generally avoid like the plague all kinds of artificial sweeteners...

ceecee I would see "no" to the Atkins bars during Induction. They stall my weight loss. If I need a sweet I use diet jell-o or whipped cream until my 2 weeks is done.

The Atkins bars maybe worked in during OWL. Welcome and best wishes, Mark
