| Hi Suga! Great to meet you! Welcome to ADBB. This is the best thing that's ever happened to me and I hope for the same for you. This plan REALLY works. Just WORK THE PLAN. Don't weigh but once a week (if you must!) and definitely take your measurements! I took starting pics too, you want to do that in form fitting clothes so you can really see the differences. (There's no need to share them). Get your water in. 64 oz plus another 8oz for every 25 lbs you must lose. I drink a gallon a day. Using a squirt top or straw GREATLY improves the probability that you'll get it done. Just walk. Park farther out when you go shopping. Take the stairs. Small steps. Always ask for help. There's no stupid question! CHeck the FAQ forum too, IT'S AWESOME!!CHeck back here EVERYDAY. It's imperative to stay focused and honest. Enjoy your food, it's the BEST food. It's NOT A DIET! | Thanks Disco I did take some pics this afternoon, I thought I may want them later on in my weight loss but for now I cant stand to look at them. I am walking as I can but Im sure you know that at 314 pounds and I'm a smoker that walking aint easy. Smoking is this only thing I havent given up yet, but it's next on my list. For now I'm just taking it slow, out to the mailbox everyday ( a couple hundred yards there and back). Im sure that walking will become easier as the pounds come off. This forum is soo big I feel like Im missing so much so I plan on being here ALOT. Again thanks for having me.

| Welcome to ADBB!! Tons of knowledge here along with compassion & help along with friendship! Come here often, post often, start a journal, join a challenge...they aren't all exercise oriented. Definately take your measurements & as Disco stated only weigh in once a week if you must. Read the DANDR (2002 version) & keep it handy to refer to. I understand that shocking moment. Mine was a combo of things...a group photo, getting on a scale & almost having to ask for the seatbelt extender on a plane. Again welcome!! Glenda

| Welcome! Glad to have you join us. You have a great attitude ~ This is a life-style change and it does take a lot of committment and changes. This is a great place to meet people and enjoy your new WOE (way of eating). You'll find recipes, challenges, journals, before/after stories and photos and lots of information. Jump in, get active in the board and make lots of friends. Drink lots of water, take supplements, exercise and do a clean induction. If you haven't already, read the book, Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution, edition 2002. It is packed with inspiration and the information comes straight from Dr. Atkins on how to be successful on this program. We're all here for you ~ you can do it.

| Welcome to ADBB!!! Like you, it took a visit to the Dr. to make me take a good hard look at what was going on in my life, and make the necessary changes. I have lost about 40 lbs since then as well as my diagnosis of diabetes. I tried every diet there is and got to the point where nothing was working for me anymore. Soooooo happy I found Atkins and this board... I wish you the same wonderful experience I am having here! Good for you walking to the mailbox! Keep it up! and try to increase a little every week... there are wonderful exersize challenges to help with motivation! Good luck and keep us posted. liz |

| Warm welcome to you Terri! Nice to have you join us. Don't worry about not knowing the Atkins lingo... you'll soon get the hang of it. Here's a link to the abbreviations list in the FAQs: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6738 Another way to learn the lingo is to get a hold of the book: Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR), 2002 edition. Apart from the lingo, it's really important to understand the science behind this way of eating. You need the 2002 edition because that was the last one that Dr A wrote completely, before his death.
