| Hi, Mearyl. You've made a great first step. You know, I've not followed through on dozens of diets and exercise plans. In fact, Atkins is the first one I've ever been able to stick to and lose a significant amount of weight on. Why? Because it works. If you can just get yourself started and stick with it for the first two weeks, you'll be amazed at how much better you feel. Food will loosen its grip on you, and you'll finally feel like YOU are in control. Atkins puts your body into ketosis, which causes an amazing appetite supression. I didn't believe it was true -- I thought it was in people's minds -- until I felt it for myself. For the first time in my life, I wasn't constantly obsessing about food... You know what, Mearyl? LOTS of people are joining this board right now -- committing to Atkins as part of their New Years resolution to lose weight. And while I certainly wish everyone success, history around here has shown that not many people will stick with. Some posted a day or two ago and are already gone. Don't be that way -- you've made your "move." Now, be one of those who STAY. Stick with it. Commit for two weeks and see how you feel, see what happens. The first step is to get a copy of Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution (2002 edition). Start reading. Come here often, look around the board, ask questions... there are so many great people here who want to see you be successful. I KNOW I would have never made it this far without the wonderful folks on this board. Give it a try, Mearyl -- a REAL try. You'll be SO glad you did. I'm sorry if I sound a little preachy. But I get discouraged at this time of year by all the people who stick around for a couple of days and then give up. So, if you're new and reading this, I hope you, too, will make it a point to be one of the ones who make it. Believe me, those of us who have stuck around sure aren't perfect -- I've struggled a lot latey, in fact -- but I still know this is the best thing I've ever done. Anyway, I sincerely hope you'll give it a solid try and wish you much success!

| Welcome Mearyl! I had the same feelings of doubt when I started,(again) to eat the Atkins way. I'd swear that negative thinking is from sugar and too many carbs in the system. I started just a week ago and already lost 7 lbs. After the 3rd day I was convinced that I could do this for life. With all the food cravings gone I feel empowered! You will too, just get past the sick feeling of the first few days and you'll be on your way too. You can do this. It is truly the easiest way to lose weight and easiest diet to stay on. Go Mearyl! Go Mearyl! Go Mearyl.... |
