Question Please Help

Hi everyone....my name is Lisa and I am 39 years old, a mother of 2 and a nursing student in my last semester of my junior year. Over the past year I have gained about 20 pounds mostly due to lack of exercise and not eating well. Also nursing school is taking a toll on my sleep....which I don't get much of....with all of my studying and my time with the kids I seem to, like most, crave carbs. I started this way of living 2 weeks ago and have lost some inches; but not a whole lot and have gained some weight. Any suggestions???

There could be various reason for a gain but it's not usual to see one in the first two weeks ......... can you list a menu and let us take a look at what your eating? You only have 20 lbs to lose so what you would have been looking for would be about 2 lbs during induction ......... it sounds to me like somethings off .......... post a menu and let the experts take a look .........also are you excercising? Did you stop any caffiene? Are you eating prepared foods? Lots of things can cause issues so keep posting information and I bet someone has a good answer for ya!

You definitly sholdn't be eating any bread of any kind on induction, Low carb or not. Sausages you have to be very careful about read the lables and ingrediants and make sure there are no added fillers or sugars to them. Soy sauce is filled with sodium which will make you retain water ....... and I am seeing 5 cups of veggies .......... which I believe during induction should only be 3 a day ....... It sounds like this ediets site is giving you a low carb menu but definitly not an induction friendly menu ........... have you read the book????

I have read the book about 2 yrs ago. I guess I should as they say "hit the books!" LOL.....if you have any sample menues or daily induction food intake for me to look at I would appreciate it VERY much as I start classes again after a nice break on Mondayand I am doing some pre class studying. You are a very sweet person for replying to me and for your words of wisdom, I appreciate it very much. I hope that I can lose the weight because right now I cannot fit into my uniform and I am very uncomfortable.

Hi, Since you are loaded down with things, you should at the very least read the chapter on induction, this will give you the rules to follow as well as a list of food to eat during induction. Anything on the food list for induction can be eaten, though some of it has limitations (i.e. amount of cheese or dairy) etc. If you don't have the book handy, i think the induction 14 day forum has the list as well as the rules done in a nice little carry around. You could start with that. I would try and get yourself situated prior to monday because you may have to do some prepping with as busy as you sound you will soon be again.

I am on induction again and my menu for today is as follows:

B - 4 eggs hard boiled mixed with mayo
3 slices of sug free nitrate free bacon
1/3 cup of beans

sn - forgot to eat it but i brought 3 hard boiled eggs

L -- bacon cheese burger with 1.5 cups of salad, .25 cups beans, mayo as a dressing (i mixed this all up as a big salad).

sn -- mock danish (1 egg, 1 oz cream cheese, 1 packet splenda and 1/2 teas cinnamon

D -- parmcrusted chicken with salad (the liquid is used as the dressing also)--
Ingredients (this serves 4 so i divide it by 4):
-1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
-1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
-1/2 teaspoon chopped thyme <
-Four 6-ounce skinless, boneless chicken breast halves <
-Salt and freshly ground pepper
-1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese (1 1/2 ounces) <
-4 cups packed salad
-1 cup cherry tomatoes, halve

I may be over a little on my veggie intake so adjust accordingly for strict induction. Also, i would write ediets and demand your money back if what they gave you was supposed to be how to do the atkins plan.

Hang in there,

Hi Lisa,

First of all dont give up on this way on this way of eating it truly works but you have to do the pure induction phase so I agree with Hrgillespie, NO BREAD not even low carb, no soy sause etc etc.......use only the ingrediants of the induction.

The net is an amazing place so you can search all sorts of sites regarding Atkins and all its phases......

these should give you a good start.

http://www.atkins.com/articles/atkin...ceptable-foods

http://www.the-atkins-diet.info/atki...tion-phase.htm

2nd, dont let those horrible scales get to you, they sometimes let you down cause you feel all light and bouncy and once you get up on them it shows that you have not lost anything but indeed you'd be losing inches and that is important.

take care

First, welcome to the board! We're glad to have you here. But, wait a second. You've just started Atkins? It appears you're not familiar with the induction. Low carb bread and soy sauce aren't allowed. During induction, you can only eat from the acceptable foods list. You should eat 2 cups of "salad" veggies from the acceptable list and also 1 cup of "other veggie' from the list. the rest of your food comes from protein and fat.

Thanks for all of your posts! This website is fantastic as I need all the support I can get. Earlier I sat down and reviewed the book and you are right! The ediets meal plan is a wreck. No wonder I was gaining! I will take all of your advice to heart and do what you mentioned. Read the book and KNOW the induction food allowances.

For dinner tonight I made.....4 oz. steak
cauliflower mashers w/ 1/3 cup heavy cream
cheddar cheese
1 strip of bacon

I will continue on my wieght loss journey and again to all of you I appreciate your wisdom and welcoming wishes! You are all wonderful people!!!

~Lisa
