Post Back in the saddle again...

Hi there everyone

A long-time lurker and a fan of the Atkins WOE for some years now, although my adherence to the rules has somewhat fluctuated over the course of time – the most recent lapse being Christmas!

I must say I am in awe of the fantastic achievements of all you wonderful and inspiring people I have been reading about on the forum – it is really humbling, and gratifying at the same time – don’t we all love happy endings (or happy middles I should say, cause it’s an ongoing journey). If I’m feeling a little low I can come here and get inspired – reading about all your achievements always makes me smile.

I started cutting out the carbs about 6 years ago, and lost a few pounds, and since then I have been up and down a bit, but always manage get back in to gear and get up and going. I have about 20 lbs I want to say goodbye to once and for all. Now (be honest), although I love food and don’t see any value in starving myself and therefore being cranky, my biggest hurdle would have to be the exercise, I am such a lazy creature! I have resolved to start out with a 30 minute walk and a 30 minute yoga session 3 or 4 times a week, and work my way up.

I don’t need convincing, I just need a shot of stick-to-it-ness, so by finally writing something to the forum, I may just have to be accountable, and my reward will be getting to goal.

Sorry for the longwindness of my rave – I look forward to your support and offering my own - and of course, saying goodbye to those pounds forever.

Ciao

Hiya Runninupthathill! Cool nic!!! Welcome to ADBB.

We're good at dishing out the stick-to-it-ness here... so much so that you'll probably get bored with hearing us tell all and sundry that that's the best way to permanent success... but it is!

Kudos to you for your commitment and for your exercise plan. Once you get into a routine, it gets easier... until exercise becomes just a normal part of your day. Maybe not your favourite part, but an acceptable part. (At least that's how it is for me)

Keep us posted!

Hi Emma,
I have been on the adiet since feb of 07, and have lost from about 207 to 177 to date. I have too been on and off lately. What seems to get you to fall? I am craving sweets.
Any advise for help in this area?

Welcome. Glad to have you join. Exercise is something that grows on you. Start out small and build it up. I was a total couch potato before I started this program 4 years ago and now it is an essential part of my life. I feel horrible if I don't get some sort of exercise in each day. It becomes a habit after you do it for a month and record the results by taking your measurements. You'll find that you crave the wonderful feeling you get from each workout. Welcome, get active here and make lots of wonderful friends. Thats a great way to stay motivated and succeed.

Hi there

sallyseachange, I really hope so, since I don't mind being reminded, and sometimes need it - when left to my own devices, while my intentions are good, life just seems to railroad me. So (gentle) reminders are welcome!

Thanks *Emma*!

collettem - wow, that is a fantastic loss! You must be pleased! While my craving is not sweets, it's bread, my downfall with this seems to be allowing myself to indulge in this frequently, but in small amounts of the 'real' thing or normal amounts of a low-carb variety. Maybe it is because I never really "let go" I don't have a chance to curb the craving? Just a theory. Is there any sugar-type stuff in your diet at all that might keep your body in hope of more? My other thought is that when I am having some success, the lapses are easier to let in cause I love to celebrate - I know I need to be "all or nothing" at these times. And the dreaded exercise - I *will* learn to love it! Good luck with the cravings and let me know if you find a solution to this?
