Terah is on a distinguished road
Default Greetings, ADBB!

Hi there, everyone!

I guess I don't need to tell anyone why I'm here -- it's because I have recently decided to (re-)embark upon the Atkins Way of Life. I have over 150 pounds to lose and after having been overweight all my life, and after having started and stopped more diets than I can even count, I think now is finally the time where I'm at the right place in my life - Fed up and ready to make a change. I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired. I'm 25, and ready to start my life.

I did Atkins once before, back in 2003. I was on plan for about four months solid, and had rather good progress (I think I dropped around 35-45 pounds), but talked myself off of it around Memorial Day after having a carb-filled weekend. "Oh, I can't stand not having bread/pasta... I'll go do low-calorie instead, and up my exercise." Of course, that was the sound of me completely BSing myself.) Since then, I've put back on what I lost twice over, hitting 329 at my high.

Before the end of last year, I started doing a very low calorie liquid diet, under physician supervision. This is basically the same type/amount of food that people who have had Weight Loss Surgery can have. It resulted in certain weight loss (I dropped about 30 pounds in 3 months), but the side effects like thinning hair were too much for me, and the foods were a hassle to prepare. (I had to have 7 liquid meals a day, and they couldn't really be prepared in advance or they got more yucky than they were to start with.)

So while I decided to depart from that diet, which was working, I decided that I had to have something else proven successful to jump right onto. Looking back in my own dieting history, Atkins is the only thing that really fit the bill.

I've been back on Atkins since last week. I've been eating induction foods, but have only loosely been counting my carbs. I am going to try to discipline myself better on that to make sure I don't have carbs sneaking in where I haven't noticed them.

Anyway, I've already been around the Atkins block once before. I remember the rules, and a lot of the little tricks to find things we can eat. I have come to this forum specifically to have a group of people to be accountable with, and of course for healthy recipe exchange.

I'm looking forward to getting to know you all!

Warm welcome back Terah! It's awesome that you decided to re-commit to the Atkins way of eating. You'll find this place is great for support and inspiration. We all help each other. As for recipes... there's lots of exchanging going on. You might also like to check out Linda's low carb recipe site: http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/index.html The induction recipes are marked with an asterisk.

Happy losing!

I really appreciate the warm welcome received from you all. I don't have the same amount of times to spend on forums keeping up with everything as I did the first time I did Atkins, but I'll do my best to check in every day, just to keep myself honest and motivated.

The before and after pics of people, especially those with stats similar to mine, are just soooo motivating.
