Hi all,

I first learned about the Atkins diet in the early 80's, while I was in my early 20's. Over the years, I've used it from time to time with good results.

However, I've always fallen off the program. I am now 46 and feeling a whole lot more mortal - particularly with blood pressure today of 198/120 at my annual physical. All other numbers were ok - cholestrol was just a bit high at 208 and the bad cholestrol (LDL?) was 141. Yeah, doc says he figures b.p. jumps 50 points when a patient is in the dr.'s office...and my little b.p. machine at home has been showing 150/95 as an average. Trigs were 246 last year at my first physical in 25 years, but were 104 today. Cholestrol had bumped up 11 points from a year ago, and bp was up.

I weigh 277 this morning and it's time for me to get real.....as of today, I'm starting the induction phase. I was prescribed b.p. pills and lipitor....so I guess we'll see how dedicated I am this time....
