| Thanks, all. The avatar is from a painting I did. I am back on the wagon and doing the old fashioned way with food and no fancy products. (I do have Splenda, diet Jello, and low carb ketchup. These I know I will need. (I use the LC ketchup to make cocktail sauce and 1000 island dressing.) But the rest is real food. Chinese and Thai foods can be Atkins friendly but are definitely not scale friendly. My weight varies wildly (like 5-6 pounds in hours) due to soy and MSG here. Gotta give the scale up or I would be crazy. Good Chinese recipes. I have a few but haven't Atkins tested them much. Mostly like the Thai food--spicy, flavorful and can be very Atkins friendly without the rice. Coconut milk based curries mostly and then I eat them more as a soup since there is nothing to soak up the broth. As soon as I get some time I will try to post some recipes. I also have a great easy BBQ chicken recipe that my old low carb board loved. Will get that on too at some point. The Chinese are lacking in cheeses and most dairy but lots of good veggies, cheap. Berries are tough but melons are plentiful so when I get to that rung I know I will be OK. Very lean meats (and chewy too), good shellfish and fish availability (I am near the coast in Guangzhou and Hong Kong). The plus side is that even though there aren't any LC products there aren't many temptations either. LOL Not a lot of stuff like ice cream, good pizza, etc. so I guess it balances out. |
