| My mother didn't have diabetes but when she went on Atkins and finally met her goal a whole bunch of healthy things happened to her! Her skin cleared up, her knees were no longer strained (she was bedridden so many times because of how weak her knees were), she stop having womanly infections, etc. I've read a lot of success stories from people on this board about how their diabetes have gotten so much better from being on Atkins. Congrats on your succes that's great!!! I'm curious did your Dr. continue to bad mouth Atkins after she took a look at your glucose levels?? |

| Hi Scott, welcome to the board! I can understand you being excited with your new blood sugar level 303 to 148, that is fantastic! I bet your doctor changed her tune when she seen that. Twelve pounds lost in a week's time. That is like a big sack of potatoes gone from your body for good. Keep up with the good work and you will continue to see excellent results.

| A process called gluconeogenesis takes place in our livers to produce all of the sugar our brains and other organs need. This is done without ingesting carbohydrates. Jimmy Moore has a pretty good explanation in his blog here: http://livinlavidalocarb.blogspot.co...es-it-own.html |

| Gary Taubes is the author of "Good Calories, Bad Calories". It's a great book, and definitely will answer all of your questions. In the meantime, here is a video of him lecturing at UCLA Berkeley http://webcast.berkeley.edu/event_de...ebcastid=21216 He addresses the whole gluconeogenesis cycle and many other things.
