| HI Gman, Welcome to the board. You are not the first person to write a long post and you will not be the last, that is what this board is all about. Letting us tell our stories and get support so we can make our goals happen. I think you will find it is a very supportive place. Look around and jump in and post and do not hesitate to start a new thread with any questions you do not see answered, there are so many knowledgable people here to help. I am just back on day seven, going on day eight tomorrow. I have been off plan for a while and have a lot to lose but I am very confident I can get there. Your story of losing and regaining is very common. We have to get to the point where we really get the fact that this is for life and although we can add more carbs in maint, we can not go carb crazy and that is a hard truth to accept, but if we can, and realize to have the healthy body we each want that we are willing to make those sacrifices, the battle is half over at that point. It sounds like you have done great in the past so there is no reason why you cannot do it again and keep it off. I am very glad you joined and will look forward to seeing you reach goal. Stephie |

![]() Welcome to ADBB! I'd rather you NOT be brief in the future - I loved your post! Great sense of humor, very smart... you're going to be fun to have around. Plus, you touch upon things that are near and dear to me. I am 48 years old, and as you can see from the stats in my siggie, I am a second-timer to Atkins. On my first go-round, I lost 60 pounds (from 215 to 155 at 5' 2.5"). I let life de-rail me, and re-gained 32 of those 60 pounds. I attribute the fact that I never reached goal and was not able to maintain the loss that I did have to turning Atkins into "Mitzkins"... I didn't follow the book to the letter and progress up the rungs properly. I stalled, and easily strayed from plan in the face of some life changes in late 2004. In February of last year, I re-started at 187 pounds with the determination to follow the book exactly. I vowed to not look upon this just as a way to lose weight... I have embraced it as a lifestyle change and have discovered that I have more discipline and patience than I ever thought I had. And I now know that Atkins works, if you work Atkins. You can, and WILL, do this! I'm glad that you have found this board. I didn't have it on my first go-round with Atkins, but I have had it from the beginning this time. It has been a major factor in my success. If you haven't found it yet, I'd like to provide the link to a forum on the board that is a gathering place for those who have strayed from plan and are now committed to making this time the real deal. It is called the STAC (Second Time Around Club) forum. Great bunch of people! Here is the link: Second Time Around Club - Atkins Diet Again, it is a pleasure to meet you. I hope to be seeing you around the board.

| Okay, I have to admit - even I was cracking up (out loud) while reading your post. Which, since you don't know me and may not realize, is very not like me at all. Welcome to the board Sting!
