Question Tired Of Being Overweight

Hello All: I started the diet on June 16, 2008. I am 30 years old and I would like to lose 50 pounds. My starting weight was 197 pounds, my height is 5'5.
I always had trouble keeping my ideal weight. During my life as a student I manage to stay between 130 to 140 pounds, of course eating very little and working out like crazy. After I finished law school and started my own business I stopped working out and started the bad eating habits that led me to gain the 50 pounds that now I need to lose.
I tried atkins before, over a year ago to be more exact. At that time I was 170 pounds and went down to 155 pounds, but then went back to the bad habits and re-gain all the weight plus extra pounds.
This time I want to do it right!!!!.
After 20 days on the diet I have lost 7 pounds, so my today weight is 190 pounds.
I need all the help, advice and support that I can get to melt these pounds.

My starting weight is 197 pounds June 16, 2008
Currently 190 pounds July 06, 2008
First goal: 180 pounds hopefully by my birthday July 31st
first mini goal: 175 pounds August 15
Second goal: 170 pounds August 31st
second mini goal: 165 pounds September 15
Third goal: 160 pounds September 30th
Fourth goal: 150 pounds October 15th
GOAL WEIGHT: 140 pounds November 30th

Are these realistic goals???

Thank you for your support in advance.

I believe anything is possible if you believe that you can do it...I mean look at the biggest loser contestants...They lose 20 pounds plus several weeks in a row...You can do it...You just have to want it bad enough and be willing to put in the work to get it...I look at it like this nothing comes free and If I could achieve it easily I wouldn’t appreciate it, because what would I have done to deserve it...Happy losing!!!

Hi Trisha: Thank you for answering. I have to be honest. I haven't been very strict so far. But I will improve. I haven't exercise. That is also something I need to start doing now.
Do you have any special tricks you would like to share? I will appreciate very much your input.
Thanks,
Berliza

Tricks...hmmm. lol
I just do a clean induction...I'm very strict and I only drink water...lots of it..
I walk like a mad woman....and oh...what I would suggest for sure is that you join up any of the exercise challenges this board offers...They are a great motivator and they keep you on track and accountable...
If you get a sudden craving or urge to eat...I fuel up with a few bottles of water, or a few pork rinds (0 carbs) or as many people have suggested here, brush your teeth with a strong tasting toothpaste.
Best of luck to you girl...I accepted your friend request, so hopefully we can help each other along this awesome journey!
Keep up the great work so far!!
T~

Hi, thought I would pop in to say hello. How are you doing so far? Don't get too hung up on losing pounds for goals. SOmetimes you lose inches and no pounds for awhile. If I don't hit a weight goal, I feel bad and disappointed in myself, when really I might have lost inches. Make sure to take your measurements. Follow induction by the book and it will work!!

Hi Berliza!

Welcome and congrats on making the decision to better your life with Atkins, even if it is your second time! This is my second time around also, and it will definitely be my last. One thing I believe we need to realize in order for us to be successful: Atkins is a way of life and not just a diet. You seem to be very structured and motivated. I think your goals are great, but you can never really predict what your body will do. In any case, if you're doing this for life, it won't matter when it comes off... just so long as it comes off. In the end (and even during) you'll be healthier, more energetic, and, yes, you will likely lose your desired amount of weight. Keep up the good attitude and visit this site often when you have questions or need a little motivation! Make sure to follow Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (2002 edition) to a T. Sometimes us 2nd timers feel like we know it all when there's a lot we have forgotten.

Best of Success!!!

10 pounds a month? Very reachable goals if you ask me. Just stay true to yourself and you'll do fine. God Bless,Joe

doing atkins and exercising regularly is a great way to lose weight.
I started walking 30 minutes a day, and now I can walk 2 hours with out a break.
good luck

Congrats on your 7 pound loss thus far
You and I are pretty close in starting weight and height, I lost a little over 50 pounds to date. You can do this!! Make sure to drink plenty-o-water, and I agree...exercise is KEY so make sure to get your heart rate up and MOVE your body to help you shrink.
