Lightbulb Warm greetings from Germany

A quick hello to all your "Loosers" Being new to this site and my first posting, I started reading some postings and I have found quiet some remarkable weight loss success stories. It seems we are all saying the same thing...tried this and that...gained it back due to child bearing...stress...etc.
So, what are we doing wrong or should I say why are most diets not helping us? For myself I found that modivation is key number one. (of course, if I like the food on my diet, that will help) Yes, we are all starting out great, motivation is at 200%, and then...you know the rest.
I was introduced to the Atkins diet back in 1984 - ups, did I just reveal my age?
My friend told me what to eat and within 2 weeks I had lost 21 pounds. This sounded great but since I had no idea why I was eating certan foods and I did not wanted to read the book my friend had, I went back to my old eating habits.

Sounds familiar?

But as they say, with age comes wisdom...I read the Atkins book and finally understood.

Iam not making excuses to why I gained weight because reason number 1 is, I ate the wrong foods, the wrong amount, at the wrong time.

Now that I let you have a small glimps on my background, and my ticker will let you know my success, I hope we can help each other to beat the bulke., one pound at a time.

Hi Gardi,

Welcome to ADBB It is a great place to get motivated - a very important part of dieting as you say.

If you have tried Atkins before that is a good head start, but be aware that it is the 2002 edition of the book that we all follow here.

Best of luck and let us know how you get on!

I'm fairly certain child bearing was not an issue for me.

No big deal (assuming you were introduced to Atkins when you were six!)

Kidding aside, welcome to the forums! We are very good about sharing what we've learned with each other here.

In fact, you have just taught me some geography -- I never knew Rhode Island was part of Germany! (the title of this thread & your "location.")
I always thought they seemed a bit foreign up there though.

Okay, so I like to be corny (different than eating corn which is illegal on Atkins, at least early on). Hope you enjoy your stay, make great progress in your weight loss, and find some "serious" friends around here to keep you on track!

thank you for asking. i was actually on Atkins for three weeks when I lost again. prior i was doing ww but got stuck. no loss - no gain. so i wanted to "shock" my body and do atkins for a while - i lost 23 pounds. i think the hardst thing is i had no one - like a buddy. my family does nto care if i am fat or thin. they like me the way i am...watching them eat the ice cream, made me stop tkins again and started ww. but you know, my energy level went down and my body does not feel the same. so i am going back on atkins, again

Hey Gardi,

I guess you are from Germany?
That would be awesome because I am German, too

I know the problem of not having a buddy - that's what we're here for, right But what's worse is the lack of interest of your family. Loving someone the way he or she is is one thing - but that does not mean that you cannot be supportive!

Keep goin' and don't give up because whoever tried Atkins or LC in general knows that it is not just about the weight loss but mostly about the way you feel....some kind of healthy

Have a great day.
Kampflausi

Hi.

Did you know we have a Germany sticky on the Board? Here's the link to it: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...0-germany.html (GERMANY!!)

There's a lot of info in that thread.

Imagine that you're doing great, losing weight, feeling better than ever, thrilled with yourself, hearing compliments from friends and acquaintances---and then it happens! Despite all your good intentions, you're mightily tempted by a food you're not supposed to have. What to do? I'll tell you this: You'd better have a strategy ready!"

welcome back to Atkins -- hope you can stay this time and loose the remainder of your weight without bouncing from program to program. This is a wonderful WOE - no cravings, no starving and it's easy.

Make sure you drink at least 64 ounces of water a day - exercise of some form is mandatory and keep to the foods you are allowed.

Good luck on your journey
