Question Hello

Hi, my name is Dawn. I am a mother of 6 and I am 37. I have been struggling with losing weight for some time now.v I ended up getting frustrated with the atkiins. 1. I was kicked off the Atkins.com site.
I lost 8 lbs, then gained 4 back. I never cheated, I exercised my butt off and the results were disappointing.
Well I dont really know what to say, Im hoping to get some support. I am very commited to losing weight.
Thank you for taking an interest

Welcome aboard, Dawn - I'm interested...

How long have you been struggling with weight issues?

Are you getting ready for a restart, or are you already rolling?

Wow! 6 kids haven't run you down to the bone?

Have you got DANDR (revised edition)?

Unhappy Re: Hello

Hi,
Thank you for your replies, I was on the Atkins.com site. they are so miserable there. I acually have not been thin since I was probably 15 - 16
I am kinda still doing Atkins, Not totally by the book. I cheat a little. I was just so disgusted with the effort I put in to it. And didnt get much results.
I know 6 kids, you would think I would be thin as a rail. I am still not eating any starches ( bread, rice , potatoes, etc.... But my weight has not changed. I weigh 174 and I am 5' 2". I am going for surgery the end of September ( a complete hysterectomy) I don't know what I am doing wrong. I do have the new Atkins book. I don't really eat much. Any help or support is greatly appreciated. I am willing to be very commited.
Thank you,
Dawn

...Great! Then you are off to a good start - you have the right tools - the book and this board. Now, of course, it's generally best to start any task by reading the directions first, then starting with step 1, and following directions exactly. This applies to most jobs, to get them done with the least amount of effort and greatest amount of success for the amount of effort you apply.

Imagine the effort it would take to empty a bucket of water with a spoon. Without the right spoon and/or method used it could take a LOT more effort, and results (if they were achieved) might take aeons longer to get than would the right way (assume the instructions say use large spoon, right side up, fill, don't turn it over until carried away from bucket, empty, repeat versus a tiny spoon, used properly halfway and only sometimes followed through with...)

Now, how does a typical day's food and beverage consumption look for you? In the beginning, you want to get into ketosis....

I bought those strips, They were always negative for me. My problem is I dont really eat much ( I know sounds silly) Today I had a Atkins shake, 2 eggs, and maybe 30oz of water. thats it all day. I am never hungry, I cant understand why Im fat.

Default Re: Hello

Those strips only 'work' (turn purple) if your body makes ketones( for fuel) and then lets them spill into your urine. If you are starving yourself your body is probably going to hang onto every bit of fuel it can, plus burn it more slowly if possible, any way it can (including not wasting any ketones through pee!).

Add to that, you may be metabolically challenged anyway (so am I) or rather, "fuel efficient" LOL and will never make extra ketones out of fat when you do burn it.

I do think you could stand to eat MORE (like, add some vegetables, and get your body thinking "I'm not starving") and drink more water...

Boot camp might be a good place to get things stirred up. BTW, you didn't GET fat eating 2 eggs and a shake a day, did you??
