Default Hi, First day of induction

Thanks Tom for the welcome. It is probably the worst time for me to be starting Atkins as my kitchen is torn apart as of Friday. I do not have a stove for about 3 weeks. I do however have a barbeque, microwave, toaster oven and kettle.
So this will be extra challenging. I found some microwave containers for cooking eggs - not my preferred method but it will do.
I am 44 years old and have been overweight for about ten years from twenty to now 40 pds more than I should weigh to be in a healthy zone and about 60 pds. more than I'd like to weigh.
This extra weight is really effecting how I feel - my energy level. and I seem to be having aches and pains that I feel to young to have.
I am very active at work and I can feel my bulges getting in the way. By the end of my work day I am exhausted and don't have any energy left for my family. I don't want to feel that way anymore. I want to feel energetic and to have a desire to do some of the fun things I used to do such as canoeing, hiking and just going for long country walks with my dog.
It has been an exceptionally busy and stressful year. Feels like it's been non-stop since January. I know that I can deal better with all the demands if I'm healthy.
I am definitely a sugar/carb addict and I know induction is what I need to break me out of the cycle. I look forward to these boards for receiving and giving support.
I made it through day 1 and I'm on my way.
Are hot peppers allowed in induction? There is no sugar listed in the ingredients label.
Well, I'm glad to be here and look forward to getting to know you all.
I still feel like I will never lose the weight but need to have faith to follow the program and know that the results will follow.
Chiloe

Hi, Chiloe! You came to the right place.

Yes hot peppers are good! You do need to keep track of the carbs - the hotter they are the less likely they'll add up to much due to smaller amounts eaten (unless you are a fire-eater, LOL).

Cayenne is one of those that reputedly has additional benefits to culinary, as well - it is an ingredient in many weight-loss and metabolic stimulant supplements. It also makes pork skins harder to pig out on too bad! LOL

The place you are is similar to where I was when I found ADBB. Since then, I've bid good riddance to many weight-related symptoms such as the "my energy level. and I seem to be having aches and pains that I feel to young to have" you mentioned and more.

Now, who would want to carry a 40-pound backpack with them all the time? Of course it would interfere with your energy level! Not to mention back, feet, etc.

Good luck as you get rid of that extra baggage! We're here to help.
By the way, there's zillions of menus/recipes/foods mentioned here that need NO STOVE!

Chiloe,
Welcome to the site! Wow, no Kitchen for 3 weeks. Thank goodness for Microwaves huh? There is a great recipe for something called a Mock Danish you can make in the microwave that is induction freindly. Check out the recipe section of the boards and you will have plenty of creative choices.

Thanks for the warm welcome.
I am on day 2 and am tempted to have carbs but I will go prepare an induction lunch for myself.
I know the cravings will ease and the bad habits of just grabbing whatever to eat will change as well.
