| Jarvist- Congrats on joining ADBB and making a go at this! It does take sustained dedication. First a few days, then get through the first month. It trains you in new habits - both diet and exercise. One major point: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...ame-tiger.html (Don't Cheat! Tame the tiger!)

| Hi! For potassium try spinach, brussel sprouts, avocados, and when you hit rung 2, yogurt!

| Hey, Jarvist Congrats on joining ADBB. It is an invaluable resource. I too had some trouble in the first few weeks. Have you considered ignoring the scale and ketostix completely? Check out the recipes forums for some great alterantives to fried foods (e.g., pork rinds and gratted parmisaain for breading). By the way, you can get more than enough potassium from the induction accpetable food list. The FDA RDI for Potassium is 3,500mg (3.5 grams). Although bannans and oranges are the 'most popular' sources, you can also get adequate levels form the meat, eggs, and vegetables on the Induction Acceptable Food list. For example, one hard boiled egg contains 140mg of potassium. You should also take a comprehensive multivitamin and mineral suppliment; like Andrew Lessmans

| Hi TJ... congrats on your 8 lbs loss... you should herald that as a significant success... the trouble with being a woman, who is on Atkins, who weighs frequently who did I say is a woman... is that our weight can fluctuate... you sooooooo need to look at the big picture. SO many things can impact our weight on a daily basis... And unless you train yourself to look at actual loss only monthly you need to stay off the scales. I weigh in daily and see fluctuations, but I am doing it so I can track the changes in my body. I have an actual weigh-in date on my scale to log my actual weight loss. ( a date that is not impacted especially by my time of month) I hope you do learn from your eating off plan JUST THIS ONCE THOUGH!!! OK!??? I am glad to hear that you took note of how your blood sugar fluctuated. We here on atkins know that experience all to well... which is why ATKINS is the answer.. it helps bring stabalization to our lives. GMAN is right tame that tiger... don't cheat... stay on target and you will see results... YOU WILL... Are you taking a good vitamin? It is critical to do so...it will help with your nutrient needs... And no... unless you are eating a whole pound of butter... (You aren't are you? I hope it doesn't take long for you to get back into ketosis... stay strong and on plan... and you will in no time... Keep us posted! Kath OH and welcome to the board... you are in the right place for support... this place rocks! |
