Nice to see another male on the boards. I'm in a similar situation, doing Atkins for health reasons not just weight loss. I had a lumbar fusion in Nov 2007 and my doctor insists I get down to 170lbs. I too am larged framed and can't imagine myself at the established BMI. But I honestly beleive Atkins can get me there. Good luck. Remember to follow the plan exactally as written for optimal success. It's nto easy to get it right the first time and I'm constantly making corrections. You can do it. Have you considered joining some challenges?

Thanks for the welcome! Ill be checking out fitday, Im gonna need some menu ideas. My biggest problem is I dont eat many veggies and I dont really care for mayo so my diet is really limited. Ive read that the diet 'changes your tastebuds" so I will keep trying other veggies and hope for the best. Im loosing about a pound a day at the moment. The only problem I'm having is lack of energy. Im tired all day long, maybe I shouldnt have quit coffee as well.

just try a small salad every day. to start.. if you can get thru a salad you should be ok.. read the list of accepted induction veggies and experiment.. but that helped me at the beginning.. just get thru one salad a day... you dont HAVE to quit coffee. some do and some dont.. just make sure you dont go over your splenda/cream allowance... Dr A said its the caffiene that can cause cravings in some.. keep up the good work.. glad you found the board.. my 3 essential pieces of advice is this.. 1. come here often 2. read everything 3. ask questions you will find advice, amazing support and encouragement here.. it really helps to see others in your situation.. and what ever problems you face you will find a "been there done that" story from someone... its good not to feel alone have a great day ... YOU CAN DO IT

Hey, unclesalty I totally understand the challenges involved with incorporating vegetables. I struggled with it for a while; not a big salad eater. However, I found a few very tasty solutions whereby the vegetable is not the focus. 1. Sliced Cucumbers drenched in Sugar/Carb Free Greek Salad dressing 2. Celery stalk with cream cheese 3. Jicama Cinnamon Fries (Sliced Jicama fried in Olive oil and sprinkled with cinnamon and Splenda) I basically view veggies as dipping foods. Hope this helps
