| Sarah, you're a lovely girl, your husband sounds like a gem, and your baby is adorable! You've come to the right site ... I'm still pretty much a "newbie," myself; the Atkins veterans can advise you better about the basics. I will say check in with this board often and join in the challenges, if you can ... they really help you stay on point. Sounds like your head is in a good place so I'm betting you'll do just fine!

| Your post shows you have a good sense of humor which will be good to have as you begin your journey on Atkins. I've learned that being able to laugh at my foibles and turn to this board for support have been a great help. I doubt I would have stuck to this WOE for this long (3 months seems like forever in "diet" land!) without these forums. I was once a sugar junkie too, and still think about sugar since the rest of the family continues to enjoy sugary treats, but I truly don't *crave* those items like I used to. I credit removing ALL sweet treats (including diet drinks and other artificially sweetened items) from my eating plan. Although I will now (3 months since beginning) have an occasional diet soda, I believe sticking to water and refraining from anything sweet, naturally or otherwise, has been a major factor in my not worrying about where to get my next "glucose hit." I think you can be successful on this WOE. It sounds like you have your family's support and now you have the support of a large "extended family" here at ADBB. If you can find the necessary will power to get through the first few days, the rest of the trip should be fairly smooth sailing. Best of luck as you begin your journey, and keep in touch!

It is going not to bad. I find that I really crave baked potatoes but I have been strong. Anyways, I just wanted to wish you all the best. We can do this!!! Laura. |

| Welcome, welcome Sarah! Omg, your "cape and a sidekick" visual made me laugh. I'd say definitely try to stick to just the acceptable foods as much as you can, there are a ton of bars, drinks, diet sodas, low carb things out there that might be an option for you later (if you choose to) but for now, to kick your cravings and really get a good head start on your weight loss, stick to just the basics. It's kind of like pulling a bandaid off quick instead of painfully slow. Post here a lot so you can talk to people going through the same things. If you'd like to join the Halloween challenge we're doing now you're welcome to, you can sign up in the forum under Misc - Challenges.

| This is the perfect place to be to start your journey. How great is it that your husband is supportive. Try to stop by and visit here as often as possible, it really helps having so many people going through the same thing as you to talk to. Make sure you read the beginning of the book that explains how and why the diet works. If you stick to this way of eating correctly then it is almost impossible not to lose. Good luck and i hope that you will stay active here and update us on how you are doing. Take Care

| Thanks I'll be on here so much you'll be sick of me because my job entails answering phones and playing around on the computer so from 8-5 M-F, here I'll be! My daughter's first birthday celebration is tomorrow so I'm considering it a last hurrah before I start Monday. Sunday will be a transitional day of sorts, kind of like a "practice" day, but Monday is the day I've told myself is the day. I'm the kind of person who needs a starting line to charge off from.... I'm actually kind of excited. About a diet? Who woulda thunk?
