Default Texas Newbie

Hi y'all I've actually been a member for a few days now but had not yet introduced myself. My name is Tami, I am a mother of 2 (boys) they are my world. I have been on Atkins before and got off and yes gained it all back and then some but i only blame myself not Atkins. I have been struggling for alittle over 4 yrs now and have tried alot of other diets that do not or have not worked. I had a hysterectomy almost to the year which has pushed me in to early menapause and I have been going alittle nuts. Well on September 20, 2008 I started Atkins and have already lost 20lbs I feel great. I went to Barnes and Noble last night to buy the book and I could not find one. I bought the Atkins Essentials which of course is only a fraction of the real thing I read one of the books that came out about 7 years ago so I remember alot of what the Atkins Diet is about and I am able to do pretty good. I still have a few questions my biggest weakness is sweets. I know about low carb candies, jello, whipped creams etc... but before I try these do they effect the weight loss process I feel that I am on a roll and I don't want to mess this up. Please help.

Hi Tami! I'm Tammy too and also in Texas. Welcome!

The only advice I would give is to at least initially.... stay away from the low carb candies and jello and whipped cream, etc. After a couple weeks, that sweet tooth will be dead!

Hi, Tami! Ditch the candies. The sweet tooth will abate ... hang in there! Eventually, when you start adding berries, they will taste sooooo goood!

Hi Tami, Welcome.

I didn't know Atkins like I thought I did, I was eating the sugar free jello, the sugar free candies, (all of them) and wasn't losing much weight at all. So I would get discouraged and get of the diet. I thought becasue the package said it only had sugar alcohol it was "exceptable" boy was I wrong. There had been so many different foods I had been eating that were not allowed. I am glad I have found my way to this board so I can get the tips and advice I need to exceed. Good Luck!
