Hi, Tina Welcome to ADBB! ![]() Well, my best advice is to read the 2002 version of Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution, and follow it to the letter. Atkins really does work, if you work the plan correctly. Also, if you haven't seen this yet, check it out. http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...-new-read.html (If you are NEW, READ THIS!) Hey, just curious - is there a particular reason that you are staying on Induction for 5 weeks? I'm nosey. Last edited by mitzimarie; November 10th, 2008 at 10:04 PM. |

| Hey Mitzimarie, I want to begin to say you look stunning, you are a true inspiration like evryone else here that has reach their goals with such success. Thank you for the tip, i did folloew the link and i have to say it was very helpful. I am new and all the information i get it from the atkins diet web site. I would love to read the book, do you have an idea where i can purchase one? I called my local library but they dont carry them. Any how thanks so much, I think alot of my questions have been answered thanks to you. Oh, why 5 week induction??...I have tried so many other diets and when i dont get immediate results i really get discouraged. I think if i challenge my slf to 5 weeks, then the next steps would be easier to commit. I also think that i will ghet better results. Correct me if i'm wrong, please give me your insight!! Thanks! |

I think that committing to a five week induction at the start just seems a bit putting the cart before the horse. I'd do the two weeks Dr. A advised, and reassess from there (I ended doing it for four weeks myself). You will have to move into OWL eventually - I'm there and it's awesome, much better than induction! Try thinking of this as not a diet, but a change of life - you're changing your ways. If you do that, I think it'll be easier for you to commit to working your way through the program to Lifetime Maintenance! |

| Hi Tina! Welcome to the Board. You WILL make new friends here and get loads of good advice too! I wish you already had the book - but since you don't, reading the stickies at the tops of forums is very helpful. I bought my current copy off a rack at the drugstore, and after that I saw it way cheaper at the used book store! Please try to find it somehow! I gained my weight after I had my baby too - part of it due to a thyroid condition that cropped up post-partum, but mostly I recognize that it was due to bad eating habits and being so stressed from all that it means to care for a child that you don't stop to take care of your own self! And for me, another factor was being in a bad relationship and all the emotional crap that goes along with that - my meals were the sole pleasure I had then. I hope that Induction is going well for you. I think that your intention to stay at Induction for 5 weeks isn't a bad thing. It will give your body time to re-set and you will see faster results PROBABLY ... but if you find that you aren't losing so much after a few weeks or that you are having any kind of issues at all ... such as with sticking to the plan, feeling bored or restless with the food choices, etc. then PLEASE start in on OWL (On-going Weight Loss). There is a forum here on the site just for that topic & it has very informative stickies in it too. I have read time & again here about people that boosted their #/week loss once they added more veggies. You know your own self best though - if setting that goal of five weeks is what will keep you focused, then do it! Just come back here & post how it's going so that we can support you, okay? Good luck to you! Wendy

| Hey Wendy! I want to thank you for your great advice. I actually purchased "The Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution". Now I've been reading and i have to admitt i am learning so much. As for my extended inducion i will try 5 weeks, so far so good. I feel really good, I am not tired of the induction yet. My struggle is getting my 8 glasses of water in. I'm affraid 3 glasses a day is the most i can drink, but i am hoping to be able to change that. I just want to say I feel so wonderful, never been so committed and I have so much energy, it is like I am a new person. I mean and its just been a week and a couple of days. I am looking forward to the results, to this new way of life. Iknow i can do it with everyone's support here, Thanks! |

| Wow! I see your ticker - 19 pounds down already! Congratulations! I'm so glad you found the book. I read mine all the time in short spurts (I keep it on top of the toilet tank so that I can grab it when I get those few precious moments to my self!). It's funny how even though I've read it cover-to-cover several times, I'm always "learning" something new when I go back to it. Water: I have found that it takes time to build up to the 8 glasses. I keep a glass on the nightstand - fill it up again with ice & water once I shut the alarm clock off - sip it while I get ready - fill it again before I drive to work - refill again once I get to work, etc. - in other words, I have my water beside me ALL the time. If you keep on sipping it throughout the day and you remind yourself "TAKE A DRINK" and force yourself to do so, after a while it becomes second nature. After a while, if you start to fall short on your intake your body will be screaming for it - unbelievable thirst! Funny thing though, when I fall short for a few days in a row my body resets and I have to build back up to those levels again. I hope you continue to have such great results - the high you are on from this way of eating is fantastic!!
