Default Nice to meet you all!

I'm new to the board, but not new to Atkins - I'm another second-timer.

After doing Atkins in high school (my whole family had adopted the woe), a whole host of digestive problems I'd had (like constipation and symptoms of hypoglycemia) went completely away for YEARS! Well, then I had a baby and was dirt-poor for some time, and my health went completely downhill and I gained about 60 pounds between the ages of 20 and 24. x_x

My boyfriend & I gained most of that weight after he moved in 2 years ago - he ate more junk food because of me, I ate more pasta because of him, and we both ate alot of kids' breakfast cereal & white bread because of my daughter. All that added up to some big tummies o__o!!

I tried the low-calorie diet & exercise thing and it just did NOT work. I remembered my successes with Atkins 8 or 9 years ago, and figured I'd give it another shot. My boyfriend needed it too, so it was easy to transition to this woe - getting all the carby stuff out of the fridge (aside form some yogurt & fruit & milk for my daughter, which we don't touch) was easy.

My daughter loves alot of the atkins food too! salad, broccoli, and low-carb pizza are some of her favorites. I'm really glad we don't have to keep tempting junk in the house!

My boyfriend & I started induction the weekend before halloween - halloween was difficult, and we both ended up cheating that day x_x we started induction over that weekend, and we haven't cheated since then! He & I have each lost almost 20 pounds so far!

I'm hoping this forum can help me with any questions I have, moral support for when days like Halloween come creeping up on me, and low-carb recipes! I've surfed around the forum a bit and it seems GREAT!

Sorry for such a long intro post, I'm just so excited & enthusiastic!!

Hope to see you all around.

Wow, congrats on your success so far, and welcome!

My whole family is eating Atkins too (for the most part - like you said, a few allowances for DD) - it's much easier when we're all on board, yes?

Good luck in your journey!

Thanks for the warm welcome!

It's hard getting into good habits, but the best way to do it is just by jumping in & doing it. Not trying, not hoping you can do it, not easing into it. Just DO it... like jumping into a cold swimming pool - it's soooo much more refreshing if you do it all at once!

This is just such a beneficial woe to me, in more than just physical health ways. Adopting this WOE absolutely forces me to COMPLETELY cut the bad carbs and to eat my vegetables - which means trying new things all the time (something I rarely do cuz I'm a wimp usually :P), because I've never been a vegetable person, and I'm a crazy carb addict. I'm also a very lazy person, and exercise is a requirement... I also never enjoyed drinking just plain water - it would make my throat feel like it was closing up x_X But it's so essential on atkins - I can't get enough of the stuff all of a sudden!

And I remember my entire life changing when I was in high school - compared to middle school & earlier, I was more confident, more courageous, had better concentration (I've had more than one person fairly recently tell me I should be tested for Adult ADHD because I had a hard time paying attention at work).... When I did atkins the first time, my ENTIRE life was better. Nowadays, i'm distracted and overweight and something of a hermit. o_O I couldn't help but realize that my way of eating and my lack of movement were changed drastically, almost overnight, right after I had my daughter - which was when all the problems started.

Already, since starting Atkins, I'm more brave about what I eat, and I have better energy. The confidence is starting to grow with every day I don't cheat!

Seriously, this WOE is so good for me in so many ways.
