| Hi Chris Sorry to hear about your accident - but congratulations on getting the all-clear. I have just started Atkins today as well - this is my first time doing it. I have 42lbs to lose. I'm exited about getting the weight off, and keeping it off, but nervous about how I will fulfil my potato addiction!! Good luck with the weight loss, Rose |

| Hi Rose, Well the first week is the hardest, whilst you get over the cravings for carbs. Then as you come into the second week you start to feel a little better, then when you jump on the scales at the end of the second week you'll be hooked! One thing I would say about the Atkins diet is a never really felt hungry, in fact I sometime found it hard to eat. Although, they say eat as much as you like, in practice this really doesn't happen. I wish you the best of luck Rose, you will be just fine... keep that excitement going and your bound to succeed. Chris |

| Welcome Chris & Rose.. Chris- Sorry to hear baout your accident Chris, glad you got the clear and decided to come back to Atkins!! Rose- try Cauliflower for your potato addiction. There are a few recipes on here for faux potatoes. I tried the Loaded Cauliflower. It's like Potatoes with sour cream, cheese, and topped with bacon.

![]() Welcome to ADBB! ![]() A couple of things... There is no "finishing" Atkins... it is designed to be a lifetime way of eating. While a great deal of the world is still under the "lowfat is healthy" dogma, there is some new research out there that shows that lowfat is NOT healthy. I would suggest reading Gary Taubes' "Good Calories, Bad Calories". I'll admit the the reading is a little deep/scientific, but it is a definite eye-opener to those who feel uneasy about eating fat. By the way, my doctor is the one who turned me on to eating the Atkins way, because it is very healthy. Secondly, how about opening your mind to the world of veggies, other than mushrooms? In any given phase of Atkins, most of your carbs should come from veggies. And once you are past Induction and into OWL (Ongoing Weight Loss), your fat percentage will go down, as your carb percentage increases... your protein remains at around 30% of your total calories. Make sure to re-read the book so that you understand the plan fully. It is much easier to follow a plan that you believe in and trust. Don't view Atkins as just a way to lose weight... to keep the weight off in the long run, it has to be a lifestyle change. Check out this sticky, if you haven't seem it yet. http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...-new-read.html (If you are NEW, READ THIS!) Stick close to the board, and post often. You CAN do this! |
