| Way to go on the 6 pound loss. A lot of us are slaves to the scale and unfortunately we let it affect our mood. If it goes down, we're happy. If it doesn't move or goes up, we're discouraged. Atkins works, so hang in there and keep focused. Check out Why the scales can lie and How do I deal with stalls and plateaus (How do I deal with stalls and plateaus?). Make sure to exercise and drink lots of water. Are you "regular"? If not you may want to take 1T of psyllium husks (I buy it at our local co-op in a canister) or flax meal or wheat bran daily to move things along. Best of luck to you... |

| 6 pounds is great! and don't weigh yourself so much!!!! weight fluctuates day to day. once a week is plenty, or if it makes your brain feel better, pick an official weigh day and that is the reading that matters, any other time you weigh, forget it. That's what I do. Once a week official and I don't sweat the others.

Body fat isn't just a layer of flab. Current research has shown fat to be as another organ (as our skin is an organ). This one helps to filter/hold inflammatory agents against potential harm. If you lose weight too quickly, you dump these 'poisons' into your system without a method to deal with them. Not too good. Change your intake; this will let you slowly lose weight without the problems of sudden weight loss. 1-2 pounds a week is a good goal. Much of the accumulated inflammatories come from bad diet choices. It's not enough to stop eating grains, you should also limit the foods that feed on grain. Look into some research on EFAs, omega-3 and omega-6 as far as the overall effects of these lipids on our collective health. The high-fat diet of the Atkins plan is our natural diet--IF the fats we eat are healthy for our bodies. Fat for the sake of fat isn't the answer. A good balance of Omega-3 and 6 Essential Fatty Acids is the key. Good luck on your diet plan. If it took several years to put on weight, it should take time to lose it in a healthy manner. | Welcome on board! 6lbs is really an accomplishment. I just started up again and I can't wait to see a significant difference! Keep at it sometimes in induction you will find that at first you lose some weight quickly and then it may slow down a bit but if you continue on you will see that the weight will keep coming off. Keep at it you are doing great. Don't be discouraged it takes time but you are on the right track. Try exercising it really makes a difference. AOT
