Default New to Atkins too!!!

WELL HERE WE GO!!!! I am officially on day 2 with the atkins diet and am proud to say that I started before the New Year! You see I always give myself excuses of not starting. Like....( I will start on Monday since it is the beginning of the week), or (I cant start a diet now it is in the middle of the Holidays). Anyways, I knew something must be done when my holiday-visiting mother-in-law informed me that she was sad that I wasnt taking care of myself. I suppose the truth does hurt, so I immediately started looking for a solution and now I am here. The great thing about this forum is that it allows you to express your fears and concerns of being afraid of failing. You see, I am a great starter, but not so great of a finisher. Eating the wrong foods is just a bad habit that needs to be broken. Anyways, Hears to you all and Good luck with the New Year!!!

Welcome Kristi
Bad habits can be broken. Not always easy but we can persevere. I have had good luck with the help of Atkins to break my constant eating habit. You can do it too.
Hope you had a good day 2. Day 3 may bring induction flu but it is just a small transition.

Hi Kristi,
I'm new too. It's my 3rd day of induction. So far, so good. I haven't been hungry between meals or later in the evening. I had the same thought as you. Instead of waiting for the New Year, I just decided there's no time like the present. Good Luck to you and have a Happy New Year !!!

Welcome to , Kristi!

Most of us can totally relate to what you said. You made a good decision to start right away. When there is something that I cannot eat in this way of life that I used to enjoy eating I try to remind myself that "it's only food" and there's absolutely NO BENEFIT in eating it. Also, there are so many wonderful low-carb recipes out there that are great substitutes.

I'm sorry for what your mother-in-law said to you, but the good thing about it is that you are here now and you're going to see great changes.

Post whenever you need to...seeking answers, giving support, looking for motivations, etc.

To you all!!!
Thanks so much for the encouragement!!!!! There arent many that know how addicting eating can be. In my opinion, there is no difference between this and any other addiction. Food is there to make one feel better or maybe even content. Thanks again for the encouragement and I hope you all have a better and slimmer 2009!
